Hi

I really dont want to drive myself as sure I will get lost but am going to meet DH there so it would be good actually to get a taxi so that we just have one car to come back in, if I drive up then we still have to drive 2 cars back home.

Anyway its appealing except I am worried about a taxi with the kids unless it's a recommendation, can anyone help ?
Even to go locally for a 10 min journey some of them drive crazy so I'll be so stressed if I have a looney driver for that long journey

Thanks all for any help :(

I've been in a pink taxi probably four times and now actively avoid them. On each occasion the driver talked on their mobile the whole time and did not drive well..... Maybe they are better now, that was a few years back and of course they won't all be the same as the ones I was lucky enough to get I guess :) just had to post as it's funny I see a pink one and think no way! edited by liveandletlive on 11/03/2011

Why not book a Pink Taxi (women only). The drivers are female and appear to drive well when I have encountered them on the roads. You can book them through Dubai Taxi. Are there many of these Pink taxis... nope

Before crisis time when it was hard to get taxi, I always call the same taxi driver and if he was not available, one of his two friends. He no longer drive taxi these days but he still call me once in a while asking about the wellbeing of my family. One of his friend is on holiday at the moment but one is here. You could try calling Mizulla at 055 3082566. HTH.

Classic Luxury Transport LLC 0508860095 This guy was great, but it may be pricey, I can't quote the cost as it is the one by DH's company uses so I think they got me a special rate. The bus runs every hour to one and half hours from the main bus station in Dubai to the one in AD (next to the Grand Millenium Hotel / Al Wadha Mall) - it takes 1.5 hours, there is a toilet one board - handy with the kids. Costs 15aed. There is also a smaller bus runs from Ibn Battuta Metro station - but it is busier and sometimes hard to get a seat. only 4 buses in the morning and 4 in evening, so not quite so convenient. HTH

Have you considered taking the bus? Thanks Wuffles but NO ! I did not as no idea when it goes but reckon it will take hours ?!! I want to get there straight to the hotel as quick as possible but safely - so think i would rather drive than take the bus, at least I can listen to my music etc thanks anyway ;) Fair enough-but the buses only make one stop -if needed-at the uni-so are actually a good way to go-it takes under an hour and a half from Bur Dubai so not bad at all edited by wuffles on 10/03/2011
