you need to eat very tiny mouthfuls and chew everything until it's virtually mush - if you don't you get PB (productive burping) which is where it comes back out... Actually vomitting can be very dangerous - i'm surprised your friend was allowed to continue like that...

For those of you with Dr. Roger, do you go regularly to get your band filled, for example as you lose more weight? At the beginning I was going every so often for a fill and even to have some taken out i.e. if I was going on holiday. At the moment my band is unfilled as I am trying to lose the last 6kgs on my own.

Was that through NHS , it seems very very cheap if private. It was £175, so about AED1000? This price was for the hypno one surely Yes, Pepps asked how much it was for what my sister had (which was hypno) and I replied :)

Did you have it done her in Dubai ? How much did it cost ? I had the gastric band put in about 8 months ago and I've lost 25 kilos so far - I have 15 kilos to go! Everyone's wondering how I lost the weight but I just tell them that I'm extremely busy these days. They also tell me that I look much younger than before - then I realized that excess weight really does make women look older. Anyways, best thing that I've done. It took a lot for me to get in there and do it, but I'm so glad I did. I'm fitting into my pre preganancy clothes, shopping is amazing, and I feel more energetic. Highly recomended - might be a bit scary at first, but you'll fall into it easily

If you are looking for something less invasive you can try having a balloon inserted through endoscapy. My brother in law had it inserted at Emirates hospital with Dr.Wael Dahhan. He is American board certified. My brother in law had it done 4 weeks ago and lost 10 kilos so far!But you also need to be on a low fat diet and some exercise, but after you have it inserted you feel full quick. And looking at food makes him nauseous now.

My sister has just had her first hypno-gastric band session (out of two) in the UK, and she is very optimistic about it working as they went out for burgers and she only got through half of hers, usually she would eat hers, some chips and then polish off whatever her three kids had left... she has struggled all her life with her weight and by her own admission has no willpower. Don't know if they do this in Dubai but may be worth looking into before you go down the surgery route. She has tried every diet going and has even had 'weight-loss' hypnotherapy before with no joy, but this seems to be working somehow. Fingers crossed for her and for you too. Well that must be better than surgery I know ! What did it cost ?

Kittykat, do it :) My friend did and its the best thing she ever did. she lost the weight slowly and eats very differently now. its good because its reversable as well as can be altered without surgery. do you know how it works? She did with Dr. Roger at Emirates Hospital-apparently he is the best. She says it was worth every penny. Saved her from being obese and diabetic-which everyone in her family is. Her aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.. Are you talking about the hyno one ? Hyno? HYPNOTHERAPY LOL

Hi kittykittycat. Yes I have had a tummy tuck but only the mini one, basically to get rid of excess skin. I still have a way to go and go to the gym frequently. The band has changed my way of life, not only my physical appearance but my self confidence. I eat better and make better choices when eating out. Of course I still have bad naughty days but you would have that on any diet. I first went to Cosmesurge and they directed me to Dr Roger. Emirates Hospital ran so many blood tests on me, had to have a full medical to deem me able to have the op. They didn't agree to me having the op straight away. I realy do wish you well if you decide to go for it. Good luck

Thanks all- Saltire- yes I have gone through weightloss programmes under doctors watchful eyes, I have had councilling, to be honest you name it I have done it and I have lost the weight and have then put it back on. Don't think I am looking at this option as a quick fix option, the idea of having surgery scares the **** out of me but I really don't know how to cope with this anymore, my self confidence is at an all time low and just can't bare the thought of living the rest of my life like this. I am looking at the hypnotherapy one as I had never heard of that. Wiggy- have you had to have a tummy tuck as well- ideally I would loose 37 kilos and I am active so would continue my fitness regime? I do understand you have to be strict as well and this isn't a miracle cure!

what i know is that the band just a tool that helps, but what really works is the diet and later on the cardio exercises. so if in your case you have not found yet what diet works, there is nothing to be assisted by the band. maybe you could try to get a full hormone-blood-digestion system analysis first, to see what type of diet your body reacts on. i have heard of people who had great advices from WCC in health care city, dr rita nawar.

I had a band done about 3 years ago with Dr Roger at Emirates Hospital. I have lost about 30kgs in total with 6kgs to go. It is not a quick fix solution and you seriously need to consider all your options. Some people that I knew said how easy it must have been to lose the weight with the band. Well let we say, it definitely helped me as I could not do it on my own, but believe me there is alot of WILLPOWER needed as well, as things like chocolate or icecream are easily eaten with or without a band. It worked and is still working for me. I absolutely recommend Dr Roger and his aftercare is very good. GOOD LUCK x
