I am wondering if anyone is using a SMS app or something of the sort to send text messages/chat messages over 3G or wifi?
I am looking for something like Skype where I can use it iphone-computer or ipad-computer, computer-computer, etc. Skype is the perfect solution but because it is so battery intensive, not a lot of people like to leave it running on a mobile device or turn on the push notifications.
I've downloaded whatsapp but you can only chat with other whatsapp users and from what I can tell, only mobile-mobile. But the good thing is at least it works across different platforms, i.e. iphone, android, blackberry and nokia.
MAIN ISSUES: I send too many SMS messages and there is not an affordable SMS plan here on Qtel or Vodafone AND I want to be able to SMS overseas

If anyone has any other app or solution to share I would like to hear
