Repton re registration information.
Re-Registration Procedures and a School Fee Plan.
Further discussions on re-registration have now taken place with the KHDA. They have, as always, provided the school with sensible and clear guidance. They have agreed that the re-registration process as outlined to you in my letter of 2nd February will stand with a modification to the dates by which payments may be refunded.
The deadline for all re-registration requirements will now be the 21st of April, 2011. However, the deadline for refunds of the initial payment has been postponed to 1st June, 2011. After this date, the initial payment will not be refunded but the remaining three PDC’s can be returned in accordance with clause 69 of the school’s Terms and Conditions. If you are unable to submit the initial payment by the 21st of April, the school is willing to accept this amount in the form of a PDC dated for the 1st of June 2011.
Thus to clarify, should you need to withdraw your children due to a change in circumstance before 1st June, 2011, all payments will be returned. However, any withdrawal of a pupil after the 1st of June 2011 will result in a forfeit of the initial payment of 10000 AED, but the remaining PDC’s will be returned as outlined in our Terms and Conditions.
As I previously explained in my letter of, this modification to the method of fee collection is to mitigate the school, and indeed all the remaining fee paying parents, from the costs incurred by unplanned withdrawals last year.
The KHDA have acted as a wise sounding board in this matter and I am very grateful to them for their guidance and advice. They have been very open in their dealings with both the school and parents who have raised concerns. The Governors of the school are well aware of the concerns which have been raised by parents as a result of the alteration to the re-registration procedure and are pleased that the KHDA now understand the reasoning for the change and have endorsed the procedure as outlined above.
School Fee Plan
The school has been in discussions with Barclays Bank to put a scheme in place which, for some parents, will make the payment of school fees much easier. In essence, parents enter an agreement with Barclays, who on behalf of the parent will make a direct payment to the school of the total annual school fees due. As the fees are paid in advance for the entire year, the total amount due will attract a discount of 5%. This amount will be offset against the interest on the loan. In turn, the parent makes an agreement with Barclays to pay off the loan over a specified and agreed number of months. Full details can be found on the attached document. We believe that this will provide for some parents an affordable and convenient way to pay for their childrens’ education.
I hope that the clarification of the re-registration process is helpful and that any concerns you may have had have been addressed.
