Hello, I am not due until Nov 1 but I'm already concerned about giving birth here in Dubai because there is a good chance my husband will not be able to be here for the birth or quite sometime afterwards. I really want to have the baby here as this is where my first dd was born and I love my doctor / hospital. But I'm worried about the rules and being able to get the birth certificate without DH physically here. I know we had to provide both original passports when getting my DH's birth cert.

Has anyone else been through this? Is it possible to get the cert with only a copy of his passport? I have the original docs for everything else. And, as I said, this is our second kid here so they already should have records for us.

I would hate to go all the way back to the US for no reason but, I also don't want to get stuck with a LO without the proper papers!

Lolabug, you get 30 days to apply for the birth certificate. Will your husband be out of the country longer than this? Not sure if they are strict on this timeline or not. We had to submit original passports for our DS a few months ago. I know they already have your records, but this is Dubai remember!
