Best location for camping for us was DIBA ( beach next to Tulip hotel - Oman). No need for visa - only passport check point when u cross over the border.
Can you get hold of the off road explorer haylbop? Theres actually some lovely places close by al ain you could try without too onerous off roading. Wonderwall springs to mind, but thats through the al ain border into Oman.
thanks Zaabs, all duly noted! Not sure about the music one though....v interesting, I've never heard it before! If anyone else knows any places ideal for camping, not too deep into the desert then please let me know!
not really sure where you can go but I can give you some camping tips
Make sure you get there early enough to set everything up before it gets dark.
Ensure you chose an area where you will not get run over by cars or quad bikes
Make sure you take plenty of lights with you (put tiki lights up and carry torches - especially to cook with)
Ensure you take a blow up mattress to sleep on, the sand is hard and you will not sleep well on it
Take a table to put your food on and to prepare it. We only had a big blanket on the sand and it was a nightmare.
make sure you keep the tent zipped up at all times (dont want creepy crawlies getting in.
take a cool box with ice so that you can store any food for the next day.
Also, make sure you take a few pots and pans with you. We took a state of the art bbq but realised the next day that we couldnt boil water for a cuppa tea
And.... lots of people (mainly locals) tell me that you shouldnt play music in the desert as this wakens the ghosts and spirits...
Enjoy camping, we had a great time
Hi Ladies, a few of my friends and I are thinking of trying camping in the desert this weekend as feel it would be a nice time of year (temperature wise) to go. Some of us live in Dubai and others in Al Ain, does anyone know of any suitable camping spots between the two cities, or anywhere around Al Ain? Somewhere that we don't have to go too deep into the desert would be great as its an all female group so don't want any cars getting jammed in the sand as doubt we'd be able to pull them back out! Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank You!
