Have lost my driving licence. Do I need to report this to police? Where do I go to get a replacement one (pref not too far from Internet City)? Do I just need my Emirates ID and some photos? TIA

When I went to the RTA at the Union Co-op they told me I needed a police report. To get the Police report I needed a letter In Arabic explaining where I had lost it........ If I knew where I lost it, it would not be lost!!

I actually rang the RTA help desk to ask what I needed to do and this is what they told me. No mention that a police report was needed. Gotta be worth a try first to save you the hassle of getting typing done and waiting for the police report.

I guess like a lot of beauracracy here it depends on who you get at the counter on the day...good luck.

I just did this about 6 weeks ago as I lost my wallet which contained my driving licence. I did not get a police report. I just took a passport copy and a photo (although that wasn't actually necessary) to the RTA office upstairs in the union coop at Safa park and got a new one v easily.

I just went through this process. You need to go to one of the typing places by the Bur Dubai police station, they will type up a letter requesting a police report (completely pointless if you ask me) You then take it to the police station, they will then (in thier own sweet time) type up a police report. You can then go to any RTA office (I went to the one up stairs in the Co-op by safa park and they will give you a new liscence in minutes.

You will need a report from the police, a passport copy and AED120 according to their website. www.rta.ae > services > drivers licensing > apply to replace lost or damaged licenses. They have a link to maps for service centres. I would go before 9am to avoid long waits.
