Help, my 1 yr old wakes up every morning screaming until I go in to him. It starts anytime from 4 - 6am. I've tried toys, books, water in his bed, different sleep suits and pods, no pods.... but it doesn't make a difference. I've always had problems with him sleeping and eventually at 11 months i cried him out, but the last month he started screaming. I thought he may be teething as he only has 6 teeth so must be due more but this has just been going on for weeks now and I'm just beside myself. I generally ignore him now if it's before 5.30am and he drifts back to sleep but still wakes up screaming. He's now waking my Toddler up too so had them both up this morning at 5.30am. What can it be and how can I stop it?

Thanks for you replies, I suppose I just never had this with my DD and it's just killing me to wake up to this every morning. I definitely think it's an attention thing as he does it a lot during the day too....as my mum says its all a phase and we'll laugh about it soon..... I hope !!!! Glad it's not just him though and you're all dealing with same :-)

hehe - I'm just saying that at that age, they're not exactly articulate, so it's basically "happy and quiet", "crying" or "screaming"... in that order! How quickly they progress through them depends on their patience, I guess!

Mine, when she wakes up, she looks for me, if she can't find me, she also screams. I've never thought it is problematic.

could it just be that he's trying to get your attention and upping the volume the more you ignore him?
