Hi ladies, my son is 10 months and just noticed he is running a slight fever 28.5c..first time we face this so I don't know how much calpol I need to give him (purple one).. The pharmacist said 3ml and another pharmacist from the American hospital said to give him 7-8ml!

Check the packaging. If you've lost the packaging, discard the bottle. Also be aware that the doses for Ibuprofen are far less than for paracetamol. My Calpol suggests 2.5ml (the smaller end of the dosing spoon) to 5ml (the larger dosing spoon) for under 1yrs old, then 5-10ml for 1-5yr olds. My Ibuprofen, on the other hand suggests half that dosage, so a maximum does of 5ml. You son has (hopefully "had" by now) a low fever, so it's more about making him comfortable than getting his temp down quickly. DS was up to 39.5 yesterday (sigh), so I had him on the 10ml Calpol and stripped to his nappy (he's nearly 2 and a big boy!)

Be very careful - some medicines are available in different strengths so it's very important to follow the dosage given on the actual bottle/box. Hope he's better soon! xx

If it keeps going up even after taking the calpol u may have to take him back to Dr's. Hth its not fun when there sick. Also scarey for the first time too.

On my box of calpol it says between 3 - 5ml according to his age. I would give him that and check on him in 20mins to ensure its working. If it dosnt go down, try cold compress/cool bath to bring the fever down.
