Hi all! For those of you going to City and you have insurance (esp Daman), did you have to pay for an additional package for antenatal care?

I went this past weekend for a tour and spoke to the ins dept. They were a bit uninformed and told that the package was additional but that I needed to speak to a nurse about it...:\:

I have direct billing with City for both in- and out-patient and Maternity, which should allow me to see a phys at City for antenatal care and delivery without dropping more than the copay.

I'm looking for any additional insight you ladies may have. Any experiences..

Thanks oodles! :D

When you go for your 12 week and 20 week (and any additional one's you may need) ultrasounds for morphology etc I was referred to Fetal Medicine Centre as City Hospital don't do the 12 week scans and I preferred to go see a specialist at the Fetal Centre (BTW they're great there). That's Dubai for you... :)

So Meals, What kind of scans did you have to go across the road for? US scans? or soemthign in particular. I'm sure its direct billing, so i guess the folks there were just lost. I cant see why I would have to pay for an additional package and a copay!

We have Daman insurance. Here' is what happened... Whilst an in-patient it was covered completely apart from Dh100 for some cream for my c-section wound. That bill we paid on discharge. Bub is covered whilst you're in hospital 100% For ante-natal visits the out of pocket expenses were Dh50 per appointment only. For scans at the scan place across the road, it was pay and claim and we got back 80% City hospital and all their Dr's are covered as they are a network provider :) HTH! ETA You don't need a package. Just call Daman and let them know you're goin in there for delivery as a heads-up. When you go to the bookings dest on admission they will just get you to fill a form in and they will contact Daman to ensure coverage (which they are). edited by meals on 22/06/2011

At your next visit to City, ask for the insurance coordinator, they should be able to advise you on whether you need to get a package or not and would be able to coordinate with Daman on what you can and can noit have covered.

Do you have direct billing for out patient? the antenatal will be classed as out patient, the AN will be as a package and they will ask for it to be paid upfront either by you and you'll have to claim back from Daman - unless they do DB for out-pt.

Thanks a bunch Pentel! I do have full maternity and my limit is at 10000 for inpatient. so i guess we have to cover the excess then...but thats a different story. I also have direct billing with City...What I am more concerned about its the antenatal. My Plan says: 100% at Network Providers 80% at Non-Network Providers (equals a Co-insurance of 20%) Deductible AED 50 per consultation (not applicable for follow up within 7 days) My addy is cheeralal at hotmail dot com. Thanks so much for your help!

what's the limit on your Maternity coverage? if you have direct billing (check this still applies at the time as agreements between hospitals and insurance companies change - nothing to do with the hospital and more to do with the insurance companies not paying them!!) then you shouldn't have to stump up for more than the co-payment (should tell you how much on your card) if you want to give me your email add I'll pass on details of someone who knows what they're talking about at City
