Can anyone recommend a qualified part time nanny (not live in) who can look after my DD 6 month old when i return to work part-time in a few months? or is that the holy grail :)

alt, any nursery recommendations? i have seen willow which i like, not so keen on blossom (small baby room)

please dont use this thread to say that mums should sgay at home, it is hard enough to return to work and feel guitly enough as it is!

Daisydog - my DSs are at blossom village, its the newer larger branch. as twokids said, make sure you are happy with the baby facilities but also with the older classes as well, they grow up very fast! BV is a big villa, lovely outdoor areas, food provided, dark sleep room, french and arabic, and most importantly for working mums, flexibility in hours and all year programmes DS1 was at Hummingbird in between having DS2 as I work in DIFC - I thought it was great for babies ie non walkers, but found it to be more and more limiting as he grew older (also would have needed a second mortgage to send 2 there!!!!) good luck - there was another thread on this sort of thing recently posted by FullyMine, think it is now in the schools section...

My 9 month old DD has been at Hummingbird in the DIFC since she was 3 months old. I think it is a wonderful nursery. The staff are caring, the place is spotless and there is a dedicated baby sleep room. They are also quite flexible regarding timing so, provided they have the space, you can pretty much take the days and times that you want. HTH

Hi DaisyDog, I really liked Willow too when I went to visit but it's a little far for us plus they didn't appear to have a specific cot or room for the babies to sleep in but that might have changed. LO is at Littlewoods and I love it there as does he. The baby room is superb, the staff are wonderful, they do lots of activities with swimming lessons twice a week plus kindermusik once a week as well as the usual arts, crafts, storytelling, babygym, etc. I like the fact that it is open all year round, they have the normal curriculum from 8-2 (but you can drop off from 7 and pick up till 3pm) then they provide daycare till 5/6pm, and they are really flexible, not the type of nursery to charge you if you are 15 minutes late. They have spring, winter and summer camps. You can do FS1 and FS2 there too if you wish. I would like to point out though that LO did cry the whole first day he was there but was totally settled in within a week and now just runs off without so much as a wave goodbye when I drop him off. There are lots of good nurseries though, you just need to figure what you need on top of it being a good nursery for your baby - ie opening hours, whether they provide a meal, where you baby will nap, range of activities, proximity to your work or home.

DD, I have not seen Blossom, but I have heard that it is smaller. I might take a look as it is close to Star International school, which could be handy if my daughter got a spot there next year. Regarding work, I will take what I can get!

thanks for the advice! it's so difficult trying to choose a nursery but appreciate the recommendations/advice....thanks Kelly_C for the recommendation, it's so nice to hear that your DD enjoys it there...think i will break my heart when i drop her off for the first time! twokids, i think i saw blossom nursery and not village, do you know what the difference is? good luck with the search for part time work, i know it's difficult here but it is possible! totally understand re your 3 yr old's needs i also liked littlewoods nursery and kangaroo kids. can anyone rate these nurseries? thanks again :) xx

Hi Daisydog, I too have a 7 mo DS who I am looking at nurseries for, in the event that I get a job. It is great that you can work part-time as all of the jobs that I see (in HR) are full-time! I'm not sure which Blossom you went to, but I toured Blossom Village today. The babies' room was small but I wanted to suggest that you think/review the facilities of a nursery for your daughter as she gets older, as this is when she will be more active and interactive. I am looking for a nursery for my son and my 3 year old, and it is the learning environment for my 3 year old that is most important, provided my baby's safety is catered for. Hope that this makes sense. I will plan to visit some more nurseries next week so can keep you posted. I originally was planning to leave my DS home with a helper but now I have seen the nurseries I am much more comfortable leaving him there. <em>edited by TwoKids on 21/07/2011</em>

DD has been at Willow since i went back to work when she was 5.5 months. She is now 7.5 months and she loves it! The teachers are wonderful, they have a lovely day of playing, nursery rhymes etc. A music teacher comes in and does singing with them and they all sit in a little circle. She has huge smiles for them all when i drop her off, and for me when i pick her up. They follow my set routine and are happy to instigate any changes to DD's schedule i may request. I like that she spends her day with other little 'uns the same age as her, they have a lovely time together, especially now that they are of the age where they can all sit around on the mat and play with toys, they are so cute to watch :-) Good luck with your decision.
