We use Churchwoods too. Fiona, who runs it is fantastic. And our cat loves her. I would highly recommend her. Best to arrange to go and see before you make any decisions, however, I would say she is the best in Dubai. You have the knowledge your cat is very well looked after 24 hours a day and should they need vet care, Fiona is there to oversea everything. She charges approx 70 AED per day, less for a second cat. http://www.churchwoodscathotel.com/

The Pet Sitting Business is rife with unqualified people who do it illegally and with no insurance. The same for mobile hairdressers, reflexology etc. I used to have a pet sitting business with a license and I got fed up wiith having to compete with people who did not have a license and know there were quite a few incidents of theft as well as inappropriate use of a clients home while they were on vacation so be warned. edited by Azaiba on 09/08/2011

Is Sabrina Legal? I thought the only legal pet sitting service in the UAE was homely Petz? Princess- does it matter so long as she's professional and looks after your pets well? There are too many kennels here that are legal which should really be closed down. well lots really, what about the liability if something was damaged in your home, or if the door was left open and you were burgled - or teh cat got out and was injured. As homely petz are licensed they have the relevant insurance to cover all eventualities that could happen when in your home - to the carer, the animal or your home. well some people have house insurance (ie if you have receipts for everything!) to cover accidental damage caused by pets, maids burglars etc and now the good news is pet insurance is now available in Dubai again if your pet gets killed, stolen or go astray. For any insurance companies to pay out in Dubai is a rarity in itself and you've probably got more chance of kissing the Pope's ring than you have of receiving any monies back!

I've used Churchwoods but now that I have 3 its too expensive for me but also they would be seperated and I don't think thats good for them-they dont get on at the best of times lol! Last time we went away we used Sabrina from dubai pet sitting who comes in every day-we found when we got home the cats were loads more settled than when we took them out of their normal environment-they all hate going in the car so it seemed like the best solution. if you do a search of catteries you'll find there are some recent postings of which there are alot of comments said about them. I personally use Churchwoods Cat Hotel in Al Barsha, very good and always positive feedback from EW ladies. I was recommended to them by 2 vet clincs which in my opinion speaks volumes! Most vets know which catteries are good ie they rarely deal with any of the cats for infections or sickness whereas some catteries are constantly taking their charges to the vets due to bad hygiene or neglect, call them, they'll soon tell you which catteries to avoid!:) edited by nadadanada on 09/08/2011 Thanks i will google them.
