Hi

My first L & D was a piece of cake, so easy 5 hours in total, i was in a toral control without any meds.

My second quite didnt go as planned despite reaching almost 10cm ( also 5 hours in total) nd rushed to emergency cs. Up to now i truly dont believe it was an emeregency as baby wasnt in distress, etc. The reason she gave me that baby had poo-ed! Nd i didnt read about it ahead if it was truly dangerous.

I am now expecting my thirsd and truly scared from the drs!

All the studies shows that there is no greater risk at vbac but finding a pro vbac has been a challenge.

I came accross other posts about water birth in al ain cornwell hospital nd thinking to try.

Could u pls share ur experiences with water birth, active or hypnobirth?

Thank u

Thank you very much for replying caduku & sobevan, Sorry I forgot to mention I am in Abu Dhabi, Dh doesn't me to deliver in Dubai because he has to bring the kids and arrange a place to stay, etc... I will try to find a different pro VBAC doctor in Abu Dhabi. This my dr did monitor all my pregnancies and my first delivery. But this time, I guess he is really busy running in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Qatar that he wants to schedule a c-section. Actually I was shocked when I talked about VBAC in my last appt. He just gave me a straight answer, that probably I will have a CS. Before that I was assuming he is still pro-natural delivery, at least he used to be that.... caduku congratulations on your pregnancy, how far are you? And thank you for mentioning about Al ain hospital, i was about to go for a hospital tour this week. I will clarify beforehand, then. Of course I wouldn't put my baby in danger and keep insisting in natural L& D if there is a REAL risk. At my second delivery, when they rushed me to cs, can you imagine, baby was already on the way stuck in the canal, ready to be out! they pulled him back! And all the way in labor room she refused to do vaginal check, though I wanted to push, push push. Anyway, what is done is done, Thanks God. Now I am thinking of having a doula, I was strong and determined with my first baby, now I am paranoid of ob-gyns! This time, I need someone to speak for me! :) Can't believe I have become a chicken. Off to search for doulas in Abu Dhabi now. I know of a doula who is in AD. She was mine in Dubai who has since moved to AD. do a doula baby abu dhabi search on fb. S

Birthing our babies remains with us for our whole life and I know I need to be in a good environment to feel relaxed and secure to be able to birth ?Love what u said. My friend did hypnobirthing too nd she loved it, end up delivering in a very safe place :) thanks God. I will read about it now nd get prepared as much as i can. I hope Dubai hospitals does not keep the woman wired up on the bed during labor like in al noor. That was the horrible part for me Thank u once again for your help, will keep u in my prayers to have a safe vbac ? edited by Flower33 on 04/04/2012

I am in AD too Flower33 but I have chosen to go to Dubai as I was set on finding a doc that I felt comfortable with. I was seeing Dr Sawsan at Cure Diagnostics who delivers at Al Noor Airpot Rd but the hospital itself does have a v high c-section rate and although AHin Dubai does too Dr Raj's stats are about 15-17% according to her which (although high) are better than 30-40%. I using the same Doula as I did with my VBAC 3 yrs ago and also hypnobirthing..... I have a lot of excitement surrounding birthing this bubs. There are good doulas in AD too and I hope you find a Dr you feel comfortable with.... just keep asking questions and don't be afraid to change Drs if you doubt there sincerity re: VBAC. I have 2 other kids to consider too but as I cannot have a homebirth and I ruled out flying home due to disruption to my littles I consider Dubai to be not such an issue. Birthing our babies remains with us for our whole life and I know I need to be in a good environment to feel relaxed and secure to be able to birth x Edited to add: I'm due in mid May and I strongly recommend hypnobirthing to address your fears --- I have learnt so much since starting researching, mind blowing info!!! Fear-tension-Pain is a vicious cycle and can lead to a less that desired birth outcome (also interestingly can appear like Failure-To-Progerss!?!) x edited by caduku on 20/03/2012

Dr Raj at American is pro VBAC and I found her to be very matter of fact... I had a VBAC (not with her) with my second and you are right, you need to be very proactive, straight talking and follow your gut. If something doc says that you don't agree with or that doesn't feel right then find a care provider who does support your decision (assuming there is not medically urgent reason for you to have another c-section which, from what you have said, there isn''t) Al Ain will not "allow" you to birth in water if you've had a c-section!!!! So sadly that's not an option.. defo check to confirm but that's what's stated on their website. I am using hypnobirthing, through Dubai Doulas and feeling SO good about this pg. I would totally recommend a doula to support you over here esp as you 'have' to be in a hospital and I was SO determined not to have a c-section again which, like you. I believe was not really an 'emergency'. Read up, research, get assertive, demand what you want (nicely and with a smile). HTH xx

I would also get in contact with some doulas here in Dubai. They probably have loads of recommendations for you as to where you might have a better chance of achieving a VBAC, plus having one at your side for the birth is great. Try Dubai Doulas or the Be Empowered group. Also, maybe they can help you steer away from some places/doctors that may not accommodate you or share your same beliefs in terms of labor/delivery. Hope it goes well!
