Me again,
We're also on the lookout for a highchair. What do you use and why do you like it? I like the look of the Stokke Tripp Trapp.

Thanks again ladies :)

The Phil and teds wiggle wrapper straps them to a chair, and it's easier to carry and IMHO safer. Love the Ikea, but if my LO is not fully entertained, he manages to get out of the strap in 2 seconds. I'm hoping he grows out of escaping, instead of it getting worse. Don't know why IKEA haven't added shoulder straps.

[ If the tray was falling off the IKEA chair, it wasn't fitted correctly. ;) It has little tags on the tray that lock it in position and it can't be removed unless it's lifted with some force. I agree, I physically can't even get the tray off mine, DH has to do it, yours mustn't have been properly clipped on. Shame there is no shoulder harness but so long as the waist belt is tight they should be able to escape. I love the ikea, so easy to clean, ILW I don't even clip the legs off, just take it out he back and hose it off every single day, I'm planning on buying another one for when DD is born. The problem with the stokke (besides the price) is that it doesn't have a tray, a tray is actually far more convenient as it makes the whole thing more portable. If I'm cooking for example, I can drag the ikea into the kitchen and put DS in there with a big pile of finger food, keeps him happy and out from under my feet. The phil and teds ones clip ons would be easy for travel, but they don't safely fit tables that have a lip, or a bevelled edge. Anything made of canvas is going to get filthy and be a pain to clean. Plastic like the ikea, or wooden like the stokke is really the most practical option. Mamas and papas do a stokke knock off, which maybe has a tray??

Great suggestions thanks. I'll steer clear of the Ikea one as I have had experience with one and tray keeps falling off under a small amount of weight. Thanks for the idea of the ones that clip into the dining table/chair, think I might investigate them. JPS1- do you have the phil and teds lobster that clips to the table? Where did you get it from, in the UAE? edited by sparkly on 09/07/2012 If the tray was falling off the IKEA chair, it wasn't fitted correctly. ;) It has little tags on the tray that lock it in position and it can't be removed unless it's lifted with some force. The Tripp Trapp is brilliant and I would have gone for that if we could have afforded it. :D As it was, the IKEA chair is worth it's weight in gold. The only thing I don't like about it is the 'harness'...next to useless but none of my kids have tried to escape it. Be very careful choosing one of those chairs that attaches to a table. They don't fit on all tables and sometimes make the table terribly unstable. If you want something portable, a booster that straps to a chair might be better...again, they need to be used on a sturdy chair.

I love the Phil and teds wiggle wrapper to strap into a chair. Love the Stokke too, but make sure you don't want a tray first, as I don't believe they are sold in Dubai and you'd have to ship one in. I saw trays in Just Kidding recently for the Tripp Trapp. Also they are doing an offer for DSS where you get the newborn part for free if you buy a Tripp Trapp.

we've just started solids and got the antilop from ikea. it is sturdy on our dining room floor, ds fits in perfectly (we bought the little cushion that goes with it), and DH takes off the little legs when DS is done, and hoses it off in the garden. we do baby led weaning, so it needs a hosing off LOL

I originally purchased the ikea one but hated it. Looks cheap, wasnt stable on our floor surface and the safety harness was a joke. We now have the polly magic.

I would definitely recommend the plastic ones from Ikea. Easy to clean and cheap. If you want one that straps to a table, the Phil and Teds that clip on are great. Also I am not sure if you can get them in Dubai but apparently these are excellent (And last up to 4 years despite it saying 2) http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0037253S2/ref=s9_simh_gw_p75_d1_g75_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=17E44X9EF0GZM1A2RQ0Y&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294

We like the ones that strap onto our chairs at the dining table. It might not seem like it but time goes really quickly - and at 12-15 months, I wanted mine getting used to sitting at the table with the rest of the family. The wooden one from toys are us is really nice.
