April 2013 due date anyone?

Hey everyone. Since our LOs will soon be on solids, just wondering if you have recommendations for a high chair. I'm going crazy from all the options. I want a sturdy, durable, well padded and easy to clean high chair. I'm looking at mamas and papas, cosatto noodle and chicco polly. But I'm really confused. I read good reviews on ikea high chair so we went there, but DS looks really uncomfortable. Any tips ladies? TIA xxx

Hi Max! I just checked this thread out of the blue and discovered your message. Is there a way to get an alert when a new post has been added? How did we get to almost 5 months old already? We should definitely meet up while our babies are still stationary! I live in Abu Dhabi but would be prepared to come to Dubai to meet everyone. Ned doesn't like the car very much but I can usually time it for a time when he is asleep and get at least part of the trip in peace. Are you in touch with everyone else? Philly your movers story cracked me up! It wil be nice when you are all sorted. Hope your flight home goes well, I guess you know about giving Flynn a dummy or feed when flight taking off and landing, for the ears, other than that sorry no tips (I have not so good ones from girlfriends who have done longhauls, they love the phenergan!!)- we will be doing the long haul home in dec or jan. But say hello to NZ for me, you might even get the warm winter they are having, oh and marmite is back ;) (if you're a marmite fan that is!), oh and can you have a peanut slab for me!! Hi ladies, Been out of contact lately. Very busy times! Had a stack of visitors from home which was nice, but ended up feeling a bit homesick :( Then moved to a villa last Sunday. That was an experience! Took all day for the movers to pack the place (which took the pressure off me) and only 3 hours to move it and unpack it. That was a bit of a laugh. Found the ice cream in the fridge, choc eclairs in the dog biscuits and my platters in the bookcase!!! Got the kitchen ack to normal at least and now tackling it room by room. Fly back home to NZ next week to introduce Flynn to the family. Flight's a bit daunting as its 24 hrs airport to airport, so any tips are greatly appreciated. Can't believe our babies are growing so fast! Flynn's just turned 3 months. Putting on weight nicely and interacting heaps with us. Loving the smiles and how he looks you dead in the eye :) also enjoying having a longer sleep at night. A friend taught me all about cluster feeding before bedtime and its been an absolute godsend! He will now do 6 hours and I feel much better for it :) Max - sorry to hear Lewis is keeping you up so much. When I was having trouble settling Flynn I googled some tips and found one that worked. Heat up a towel or put a warm heat pack under a towel, lie him on it across your lap, and rub his back. Sent Flynn to sleep in about 15-30 mins. Worth a try... Hey mums!! Sorry to hear about the sleepless nights :( But great to hear you are all loving the motherhood journey! It is bliss and the LO's grow so fast..speaking of growing, a friend recommended the Wonder Weeks...basically a guide for parents of behaviours of our babies as they grow developmentally so random fussiness, loss of appetite, sleep pattern changes, crying for no reason can be all due to these developmental changes about to happen.. I got it on amazon kindle, apparently you cant buy a copy in UAE but could get friends to send a copy from another country. Google for more info, but I am finding it really interesting... max i know what yo mean about missing your tiny baby, these little critters grow like weeds!! But loving every stage - especially the babbling!! Happy mothering all

Hi Max. Sorry to hear that Lewis is keeping you up at night. I was in the same boat until 4 days ago. I don't know if it's related but ever since Zain got his vaccination when he turned 8 weeks he's been more awake in the afternoon and sleeps through the night. I had my little man, Zain last Thursday April 25! And my life has changed ever since. I can barely sleep but I'm not complaining. I feel really happy and blessed. Alhamdulillah. Am keen to catch up soon when you girls and little ones are ready:) Anyone in Mirdiff area? there is a lovely mums and bubs group who meet every second wed 1000-1200 at caribou coffee next to the Healthbay medical clinic in uptown mirdiff. You can get yr little one weighed and chat to the midwife (who is lovely) about anything. She has a collegue friend who is coming soon to talk about sleep for bubs, and you get the first coffee of the day free!! Bonus!!! Hope to see you all soon :) happy mothering !!

Welcome to the world little Elijah! And well done Alenka, fantastic news! Wow what a birth! Congratulations! Completely agree, the nurses drove me crazy at the hospital and after the 4th day I had a major tantrum/meltdown and screamed at them all, cried, threw them out the room and threatened to walk out with my baby...aagghh! Like others, I was told about having to stay a final night because of mild jaundice-I called my gyny in floods of tears and insisted she get me out next morning! Well April ladies, we've done this thread proud....so many posts, so many people read it and a whole host of healthy babies - what a fantastic experience the pregnancies have been having shared them together and I look forward to sharing our new found parenting skills and experiences too:) thank you all for keeping me sane and supported! Looking frwd to meeting all the mums and babies:):):) I hope you're all doing well-I'm learning to hear my little Lewis scream his first pains of trapped gas and wondering how I will be able to bear seeing him suffer his first injections soon:(:( however I'm just starting to see his first smiles which make my heart completely melt:D:)))))) I've never known love like maternal love-he is just perfect! He's terrified of germs and viruses and feels she's too small yet :( so i only go out when he drops me at a mall, lets me run around for half an hour while he drives around with the baby in the car! LOL. But i'd definitely love to meet everyone, and the little ones of course! I hope motherhood is as wonderful for all of you as it is for me. never imagined it was humanly possible to love another person so much xxx

MrsAbdalla - Yes I got epidural and it didn't work. My dr said it happens sometimes! I'm "lucky" I guess. Lol. He's still a bit jaundiced but his pediatrician said there's really nothing to worry about, just keep breastfeeding him. I asked him if I can put my baby in the sun, but he said it will not really help and will just burn his skin. But we still go out in the balcony in the morning around 7am to get fresh air and the morning sun. It's lovely. Ahh it's good that your DD is gaining weight! Bless her! :) I only feed on one breast because he always passes out while feeding, then after 1.5-2 hrs he's awake for the other one. As long as he's gaining weight then I guess I'm doing it right. :) Alenka - Congratulations on Elijah! Lovely name! I know what you mean by nurses and drs in the hosp. I felt the same way! Unfortunately we couldn't leave early because my DS had jaundice so we had to stay another night for his photo therapy. Ohh I'm sooo happy for you Alenka. Hi mommies, I am In :) My dear boy Elijah was born on 9 th of may, one week late, but no sign of being post mature, perfect little boy. Bringing him into the world took 24 hrs of active labor, had prelabor contractions the day (or rather night) before as well. Expected it to be quicker to be honest but i see nothing is quick with my boy :) now read your posts girls on bf and him eating long times can stay on nipple for hour or more, that for two sides and little naps in between for few seconds.. I wonder do they learn feeding continuously or that's his pattern? Tickling him too to wake up and eat but still he pauses a lot. Someone before was posting on LLL meet ups - any info appreciated, think i will need some advice to improve his eating and my feeding habits :) now he eats whenever, every 20, every one hour or two or sleeps three hrs or more unless i wake him to feed as dont want him go longer than 3 hrs unfed. Well today i slept in and him slept like a baby (hehe) for 4,5 hrs!! Well as you see BF is my only concern now :) Coming back to birth, managed to go unmedicated and having baths at home for hours helped thru much of early exhausting pain, i only consented to going to hospital when it was really overwhelming but at that stage it took husband at least hour to pack me in the car from my bath, half hr drive then walk from AHD doors to labor & delivery ward another half hr so by the time i got assessed ( with much resistance from my side to get into bed ) i was already at 9 cm , still took hrs for my boy slowly to descend but it was mostly lull time compared to transition contractions, or me was just out of my mind by that time, anyway i was very unsupportive of any interaction from hospital side :) and only let them near when my boy was crowning, 20 min pushing waiting for contractions to come and he was out perfect boy, we still stare at him with husband like mental cannot believe how cute he came out :) We discharged from hospital one day early as it was starting to get annoying going thru their routines the most hated is his blood tests every 6 hrs as they were expecting jaundice because we are 0(-)me and A(+) him.. All was good apart from those two little feet getting too many needles and stupid "cars" bandaids which are pain to take off even for my adult skin. Anyway we run away :) home since yesterday afternoon and doing great !! :) Ok girls we need to settle in and try and make it out to meet this bunch of "april" babies .. Some early some late hehe Xxx OH MY GOD CONGRATULATIONS ALENKA! So happy for you &lt;3 at last :) i found the same, i slept terrible at the hospital because doctors and nurses were in and out every hour checking my blood pressure and temp and checking the baby and i wondered if i'd ever be able to sleep again but since i came home its been great! My BF is like yours, i just feed whenever she wants, for however long she wants, and she seems happy and is gaining weight quickly. Her doc's words at her 10 day check up were "whatever you're doing, keep doing it! She's thriving!" So i was delighted. From what i've read, you can start setting a routine from around 8 weeks so i guess til then i'll just feed on demand. How are you feeling anyway? Light as a feather? :) :D

I still didn't get a breast pump until now but I'm definitely getting one because DH wants to go out for dinner once or twice a month. We can leave DS to my in laws for a few hours. Did you get the epidural and it didn't work?! :O I know how you feel, i'm also thinking in another year i'd like to try for a little boy :) My little one feeds erratically, like sometimes she'll feed for 5 mins then fall asleep and NOTHING wakes her up. Other times she'll spend 15 mins each breast. The times she feeds for 10-15 mins only, she wakes up hungry again 1 and half hours later but when she gets a really good feed she sleeps for up to 3 hours which is great. Sometimes she pretends to be hungry and i give her my breast and she pretends to suck but then just wants to stay there for comfort and when i try to pull away she latches on for dear life! LOL she's so cute. i took her back for routine follow up 10 days after her birth and she had increased 300g since being discharged and the doctor was very pleased. Hows your lo's jaundice now? xxx

Alenka - How's it going? I just remembered you were asking about Quinny Buzz a while back. Did you buy the dreami cot? If you didn't and you're planning to buy, don't buy it! DS is 2 weeks old and it's almost too small for him. Now I'm forced to use it everyday before it gets too small.

I had a bit of soreness as well due to improper latch (DS and I are learning together) but now it's getting better. My DH is just like yours too haha. He asked me last night if our little Zain ever gets full because he sees me feeding him all the time. And he thinks he will get fat because of it. Sometimes men are just so clueless. Lol. Wow good for you! I can't even think of putting makeup on, except when we went for follow up with dr for DS jaundice. Well I never wore makeup at home anyway so that's why. How did your delivery go? You're one lucky lady! :) Alenka - Ahh best of luck hun. Inshallah this week you will see your LO. He will come at his own time, take it easy. I say make the most out of waiting because once you have him you won't have time for yourself (the first week at least). Enjoy and keep us posted x My delivery was a dream al7mdulillah, the epidural is like magic, it made the experience so wonderful. I actually hugged and kissed the doctor afterwards and told her i couldn't wait to have another baby because the whole experience was so amazing. I'm a make up fanatic at home! I wear make up everyday and didn't let a little thing like child birth stop me! LOL. I find when i look good i feel good, so i always make the effort. My little one had jaundice too, so kept her under the sun through the window for an hour a day for 2 days and after 2 days we went for check up and they said she was fine now al7mdulillah. We did her aqiqah on the 7th day and i was heart broken shaving her head coz she had such beautiful hair &lt;/3 lol but it's already growing back mashAllah which is good. I'm having a great time dressing her up everyday, my husband gets annoyed coz i put jeans and everything on her but that's half the fun of babies, isnt it! LOL. How are you feeling? Are you sleeping well compared to the end of the pregnancy? Are you expressing any milk or just feeding on demand? although breastfeeding seems to have taken over my life, i guess its easier than bottle feeding, can't imagine getting up many times through the night, mixing formula, washing and sterilizing bottles etc. Her cot is beside my bed so as soon as she cries i sit up, pull her in to the bed, feed her, burp her and put her back, not more than 15 mins. Is having a new born harder or easier than you thought/expected? xxxxx

Let me surprise you i am still expecting !! :) 5 days past EDD Not much to say hey, following all your baby news though daily :) Pinkbutterfly, Max, thanks for your wishes and i am hoping for the best, although this boy of mine must be getting so big and chubby by now :) Started doing acupuncture yesterday, daily sessions, lets see how many i visit before deliver :) Stay well everyone! PinkButterfly! :( sorry to hear your experience was so traumatic :( al7mdulillah you have your little prince now &lt;3 my little one is 15 days old now, i had terrible cracked nipples for the first 10 days which caused agony when she latched on but they seem to be ok now. I'm not expressing at all, just feeding on demand which is every 1.5 - 2 hours but its good, although i feel im on the job 24/7 :D hahahah. my husband said "i never thought i'd see the day where i'd be sick of looking at boobs" hahahaha. He actually can't believe how much she feeds, he wasn't prepared for this at all. But al7mdulillah it's all going great! I thought it would be a lot harder actually. The way people were talking about newborns terrified me! But honestly im sleeping much better now than i was in the end of my pregnancy, im on top of my housework, still do my hair and make up everyday even though im only staying at home. Al7mdulillah i feel i have it under control and am really proud of myself :) P.S. Anyone else feel like buying shares in Pampers? :D must be going through 14 diapers a day :/

I still can't believe it until now that I've been through all that pain and survived! I hope you don't go through something like that. Wishing you all the best. I haven't had the time to check the forum as I'm really busy. Breastfeeding is really a full time job. I never expected it to be like this. My nipples are soooooo sore :( I feel selfish in saying or just thinking about this but I'm not enjoying it even one bit. But I'm doing it not for myself but for my DS because I know it's best for him. He feeds every 2 hours, are your LOs the same? Babyboy- Oh yeah our LOs share the same birthday and we both had long labor. What a day that was! I had an epidural but it didn't really work for me so I felt everything! Even the pulling from the stitches because I had an episiotomy. But like I said, all the pain went away when I heard my little Zain's first cry. Alhamdullilah! I know what you mean by Hollywood movies. There I was thinking I'll walk into the hospital and 3 hours later I'll be out with a baby in my arms... NOT! Maxmistry - Thanks for the tip Max. Medela swing is the first on my list, but like Lewis my DS wouldn't sleep without latching on my nipple, I'm his soother!!! So now that made me think again if it's worth all the hassle of sterilizing since I don't even have the time to do other things at the moment. Bunintheoven - Congrats on Ned! Oh you're so lucky to have your parents over and help with the new baby. I wish my mom is here with me. Although my MIL has been great help. I was on google most of the time in the hospital as well! Hi ladies, wow lots has been happening. Congrats on the new arrivals, everyone sounds deleriously happy and on highs!! Great that everyone is doing really well and babies are happy and healthy :) Hey there were a couple of posts on here about 2 days ago when i last looked and forgive me for not remembering who you both were but you had your emails in the text so we could email each other to meet up...I thought I will get right back to replying to you both and emailing you but now cant find the posts!!! Can anyone shed some light?? not sure if we are allowed to put emails up on here but will put mine in anyway; and if anyone keen to meet up feel free to email and we can arrange something. [email protected] Bubbles I have just tried to email you to get the swimming info but clicking on your name but that does not work, hence mine above Ilea and I went to mum and baby yoga this morning...was really good, the teacher does it in her home and it is sooooo relaxed, you can go in and out with the baby , feed when needing to, but it was very relaxing for Ilea ...until she got hungry and then fell asleep on her bottle and had half a feed !! Definitely will keep going as long as we have not just fed within the hour (she will vomit everywhere as quite a few moving moves for the bubs) Its in Mirdiff, if anyone is keen on going the info is on the FlowYoga website, I think it is recommended the bubs should be 6 weeks (but dont quote me on that). Max I have not heard of Garden babies but will google it to see what its about, if it gets me out and about I am all for it... Re the aircon and dubai air Max, Ilea gets very snuffly too but I just use saline drops intermittently..I find it is at night she is worse as I keep the aircon on in her room which is obviously a lot smaller than the living room, drops do the trick I find. Are we mostly first time mums ladies???

Hello Ladies! its the first time i check the forum since I got home from the hospital. Thanks for all the congrats on our little man :-) @ lindy yes i was and am still knackered lol! Here is what happened... I woke up to pray early morning and as i got out of bed, my waters broke like a fountain...i mean the water was everywhere...so i thought, OMG i better go to the hospital straight away. Called them and drove over there, but after the doc saw me she sent me away again until afternoon as my contractions were not strong enough. So i checked in the hospital in the afternoon and was in labour (although not heavy labout) for a total of 50 hours before the cervix started dilating. then it went very fast...in the next 4 1/2 hours i fully dilated and gave birth on 25 April morning. I did a natural birth without epidural and without any pain relief. I decided to do that long ago but i must admit, i did think I will go crazy from the pain after I dilated 4 cm. But anyway, it was too late then to do anything so i just went through it and now I am happy I did. @pinkbutterfly I was in the same situation as you mentioned already....I didn't know these things are even possible! I thought once the water breaks you go and push and voila there's your baby! But Hollywood movies all have us fooled! So - our boys were born on the same day!!! April 25! My milk still didn't really come in - i have only very little although i can feel my breasts getting heavy. I bought a Medela electric pump (though didn't have time yet to take it out of the box) and want to use that to stimulate the milk flow... My little boy is adorable and I'm totally in love
