Congratulations Was you not so long ago - new in Dubai, pregnant and wanting something familiar to home Now two babies later - both delivered in City Hospital - I can tell you that the most important thing that you need for your first baby is a gynea that is "motherly" - basically someone who has a good bedside manner and will patiently listen to all your concerns then put you at ease So now at the beginning visit a few - and see who you feel comfortable with Try to get a Dr - who will give you their mobile number and is willing to take your call when your stressed out and need your doctors assurance Their are a lot of recommended dr's on EW - but everybody is trying to go to them - and as a result they are very busy and just cannot give everyone the required time - some hospitals are running production lines so now at the beginning of your pregnancy go and visit a few places - and see which place makes you comfortable I delivered my first child with dr ebrahim from city - martie(south african head midwife at the time) recommended him - and i have to say - at all times I felt confident in his abilities, I ended up having an emergency c section - but wasn't at any point forced into a c - so i would recommend him in general - but he doesn't have the easiest bedside manner which you might need during your first delivery My friends delivered with - dr grace. at dubai mall - she delivers in city and american hospital Dr Justine at life line medical centre in JBR - I love and recommend but she doesn't do deliveries anymore - but can see you up until 20 weeks she is very motherly very caring and very cautious Their is a midwife - cecile - BabySenseDubai on Facebook She offers prenatal classes and then when the baby is born is can assist with breastfeeding and putting your baby on a good routine btw - city hospital also has a lactation consultant that will visit you after you deliver to help with breastfeeding a book i found really useful when the baby arrived was - baby whisperer it was a sort of guide on what to do - now that the baby is here (i had read alot of pregnancy books but nothing about how to bath feed or put baby on a routine when he arrived) anyway - good luck and give us a shout if you need any info

I doubt there are any! TBH - there are some world renowned Dr's here, regardless of nationality! I've had 2 pregnancies here, delivered both with Dr Elsa @ City Hospital and it was faultless! City Hospital is managed by a South African company, a great percentage of the staff are South African, and a majority of the midwives are South African too! Head of maternity is Martie, a brilliant South African midwife! Hope you find someone suitable! Ps. I'm South African too x
