Hi globetrotter, Hope you have found a LC to help you by now. I'd really recommend you find someone you are comfortable with. I met samira in the hospital too and she seemed nice but I only saw her once. Breastfeeding can be a real challenge so you need all the support you can get! I struggled with milk supply but kept persevering - the main thing for me was firstly, to feed feed feed (especially at the beginning, every hour if necessary!) Secondly, to drink loads of water, eat good meals including protein, and try to rest. Also I drink pregnancy/ breast feeding 'formula' which I bought in SA, not sure if you can get it here - it's quite high in protein so I think that's the main reason it helps. i also suggest you search on this forum for 'milk supply' - you will find lots of threads with great advice. Also on one of the recent threads I'm sure there is a list of LCs. Good luck and come ask more questions, I'm sure you'll get more help from the lovely ladies here :)

I met with Samira a few times. She was really supportive and gave lots of advice. She put me on Motillium to help encourage breastfeeding. I definitely recommend getting a hospital grade breast pump. Good luck, its not easy... but with perseverance and eating and drinking right I am sure you will sort it out. Unfortunately it didn't happen for me, but I have a preemie and actually the formula is very good for her anyway and I was never going to be allowed to EBF because she needs the extra nutrients that are in the formula anyway. So don't beat yourself up about it. But I do know what I would change for next time if at all possible... I'm sorry I disagree with you breastmilk is the best thing for preemies especially for their brain development also when you deliver prematurely your milk has enzymes and antibodies hat protect your child from infection and illness. I'm sorry bf didn't work out i am not sure why you were not allowed to breastfeed if your preemie needed more calories and nutrients breast milk can be fortified with human milk fortifier and/or special preemie formula. I hope your preemie is doing well.

http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_pregnancy_babies_Breastfeeding_Support_In_Dubai_8935.aspx I have no experience with either but I would personally go for a qualified lactation consultant (IBCLC)

Hey guys, i need to see a lactation consultant regarding low breast milk supply and lactation techniques. I delivered at City Hospital, so know about Samira's services there and a lot of friends have recommended Cecile De Scally. Has anyone seen either of them? Do share your experience? Thank you.
