I have recently moved to Dubai and just recently found out I am pregnant with my first baby. I am now looking for recommendations for an excellent doctor for my first pregnancy and delivery. I have read reviews recommending the Mediclinic Hospitals, but would also be open to other suggestions. Please let me know if you have had a great doctor for your pregnancy and delivery that you would recommend.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. We are under Dr. Farnaz Ahmed from Family First medical clinic on Al Wasl Road. She is a visiting doctor in Medcare Hospital beside Safa Park. We were originally visiting a doctor (who I won't name) in Mediclinic Dubai Mall and after we had a scare at our big scan in the Fetal Clinic to which this doctor didn't even contact us to discuss the results of the scan, we changed to Dr. Farnaz. I have to say she is extremely welcoming, she is always working a few steps ahead and explains everything very clearly. Her midwife Catherine is also extremly knowledgeable and helpful so I would not hesitate in recomending her between the two of them they have made this pregnancy very enjoyable. I am due to give birth at the end of August all going well. Best of Luck with your search.

Dr Christian Jozsa! He has been a life changer for me.. I had my first DS 17 months ago via Csection. Awful, very traumatic birth... And then i found out i was pregnant again. We saw our usual OB in australia who strictly instructed another csection at 38 weeks as the two pregnancies were very close and my first bub was 4.20kgs. I saw other OB's, same answer.. We moved to Dubai 5.5 months ago and DrJozsa recommended a low cal diet and said natural birth, no problems. I was shocked!! I actually said no, i wont even try.. Over the months I researched the good the bad the awful, read horror stories and thanks to family and friends i decided not to try natural. But everytime I visited DrJozsa he would kindly and patiently tre-explain, all over and over again.... Last Tuesday I delivered my second DS naturally after 9 hours of labour (mind you active phase was 3.5hrs and i pushed 4 times!!!) This to me has been a blessing! My husband works fulltime and I have a super active toddler.. If i had another csection id be bedridden for day with no support...... Plus, every visit, before saying hi to us, DrJozsa would say hi to our son, give him a smile and make him feel welcomed. After the delivery as me and my husband thanked him, he gave us a massive hug.. Yes, he is blunt and doesnt talk much unless you ask and ask him, but he is a fantastic professional who knows his subject, and has kind and gentle bedside manners. Wish i met him with my first! Good luck!

I also used Dr. Jennifer Kasirsky at Welcare, she was great! Completely understood all our concerns, never pushed us into anything we didnt want to do and really became a good friend through out the whole process.

Many thanks for the suggestions! I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Anne Philip at City Hospital, but wasn't able to get an appointment with her or any of the other doctors for quite some time. I decided to try Dr. Kasirsky at Welcare and had my appointment with her last week. She was very welcoming, easy to talk to, and made me feel really comfortable. She did an ultrasound and could confirm that I am 8 weeks pregnant! We were even able to hear the heartbeat already! My first appointment went very smoothly so I think I will stick to Dr. Kasirsky at Welcare rather than switching to City Hospital. Thanks again for your recommendations.

I'm seeing Dr Elsa DeMenezes at City Hospital and I love her. She's fantastic .I heard she has a long waiting list for new patients- but sometimes spots definitely open up and you can get seen. At the end of the month I'm leaving to go back home for my delivery so I can tell you 1 spot will free up for you lol

I am under dr Anne Phillips at the city hospital everything up to now has been fantastic. I was seeing dr Britt claussen but she has just left to return to for a short while she made me feel very at ease and welcoming the nurses are great. I had a tour Of the postnatal ward and labour ward last Friday it was all very smart and clean and not too busy. Variety of midwifes various nationalities and wide range of languages but mainly British and South African. It's not midwife led like the UK everything goes by the doctor. This is my third pregnancy but first in UAE. I'm due June 26th so imminent . I've heard fantastic reviews about deliveries in the hospital but I'd advise a tour so you can see for yourself. .. Hope this helps. X
