Hi,

I would really appreciate any reviews/feedback from some of you ladies who delivered either at Medcare Hosp. or Al Garhoud Private Hosp. recently. What about your impression with midwifes / nurses / anaesthetist Dr /work load of the maternity ward / ... ?? Anyone else who had to choose between the 2: what made you go for one and not the other?

I'm now 35 weeks pregnant so really need to make up my mind but I'm soooo confused... We went to have a look at the 2 places a few weeks ago, but it was a very quiet afternoon in both hospitals, nothing happening, with nurses sleeping on their chairs in one of the hospitals, and eating in a room in the other hospital... weird atmospheres...

I had my first child 3 years ago at City Hospital and it was a great experience overall, but my excellent Dr no longer works there so I have to choose between those 2 options.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I delivered my baby boy in Medcare in March this year... my obgyn (Dr.Luthra) is from Medcare. I had c-section and was really happy with the OT team, nurses, Anesthetologist team, and general care. I had to rush to the hospital on emergency twice and was impressed with 24/7 obgyn team on duty. teams of docs came visiting at every shift change, nurses were very very caring, helped me all 3 days with breast feeding as my bub was having difficulty latching.

We're with Dr. Yuliya, who also only delivers at Medcare and Al Garhoud. We've heard mixed reviews about both, but i'm pretty sure that compared to the NHS back in the UK, they are both outstanding. My personal view is that it is your confidence in OBYGYN which is more important than the facility. That said, I had to go to the A&E department of Medcare a few weeks ago, and i was so impressed with the care i received. They had an on call OBYGYN come see me within 15 minutes, and the nurses were very attentive. I haven't had experience of the Maternity ward, but a friend who took a tour and recently delivered there was really pleased with it. I'll check with her on her experience and post an update. I think they are meant to be upgrading the facilities, but they don't expect them to be ready until later in the year. Finally, i think that for those living in the Marina / Jumeirah / Umm Suqeim Medcare is closer than Al Garhoud and always has ample parking. As there is a chance that my well travelled husband might be out of the country, i'd rather go somewhere that didn't involve a 30 minute taxi trip down SZR when i go into labour!

Hi All. I'm 27 weeks and also have to choose between Medcare and Al Garhoud. My mind is made up on Al Garhoud. I was admitted there back in January for some complications and had a great experience, so sticking with it :) Good luck mimosa80! All the best with your delivery!

I delivered one month ago at Al Garhoud. I cannot recommend them enough. They made the whole experience amazing, i actually really enjoyed my labour and birth (with epidural :) ). My OBGYN was Dr. Hanan who was an outstanding doctor, the whole time i was in labour i had at least 3 women in the room with me, a midwife who was there holding my hand and guiding me through the contractions, nurses checking on me, and my own Dr. came to do the delivery herself which i was so happy with. I would never deliver anywhere else after having been to Al Garhoud. The rooms are fab, the delivery room is big and comfy, the food is great, i love the place. Drop by anytime to take a tour and you will be highly impressed.

My friend is delivering at Medcare ( Lots of her friends also did) She has a South African Midwife and a Portugese Male OBG-YN she told me both of them are fantastic
