Hi all,
Once your little one is born in Dubai, what do you need to do to register the birth in the UAE and make sure it is ok for the baby to stay in the country. How long do you have to get a passport from your home country sorted?
Many thanks for any help or advice.

We've been looking into this for our little one when he arrives in a few weeks. I found this guide helpful if you want to do it yourself, but frankly the process has put us off trying to do it ourselves and we will definitely use either Babysteps or MediExpress (i think that's what they are called). http://womenmoneyandstyle.com/go-to-guide-for-registering-a-birth-in-dubai/ Good luck!

Has anyone done it themselves? Is it easy? I got the Arabic Birth Certificate from the hospital so just need to get it attested/translated etc.

It is a bit of a palava - the hospital gives you a birth notification (2-3days to get this) which you then use to apply for a UAE birth certificate. This needs to be attested and then you can use it to apply for your home country's birth cert/ passport. I think you have 2 or 3 months to sort it all out. We used baby steps to get the UAE birth certificate and attestation and were very happy with their service.
