Hi Ladies
I am new here (just off the plane a week!) I am a qualified primary school teacher with a bachelors degree and also hold a post grad in special educational needs. I have worked for the past 7 years in a special school for students with Mild general learning difficulties, including students on the autistic spectrum and students with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I would really like to continue my work in this area but I am finding it difficult to see many opportunities in schools. If you know anyone who may need a tutor or just parental support to discuss issues with their kids or concerns they may have, please get in touch with me.
Thanks.

Hi Louise, Brighton College have a team of Special Educational Needs teachers. My son is being followed by them but they are very busy. You could try contacting them. Otherwise Cranleigh is a new school opening in September 2014, they will definitely need special needs support and you might get lucky trying early. Good luck. Great I will look into both of those. Thanks x

Hi Louise Yes i really enjoyed my time working there, the kids are amazing and my colleagues were too and still are good friends. I can give you the telephone number if you would like Laura x Yea please do Laura, couldn't find much info about them online. Where is the hamad centre based? Have a contact in a private school regarding special ed so hopefully that is going to work out for me mad it's close to where I am living. Fingers crossed! Xx It is based in marina village behind marina mall, it is 2 villas converted into 1 and expanding too. They don't advertise all that much that maybe why you couldn't find much info. The private school job sounds good, this is the route i would like to take too eventually. Let me know how you get on, best of luck. Laura x

Hi Irish dolly Are you wanting full time work? What kind of work did you do with children on the autism spectrum? I have just finished work (to concentrate on my up coming wedding :-))at Hamad Centre for special needs - the work they do is primarily working using aba for children with autism and challenging behaviours. You work on a 1 to 1 basis with the children and have a team of around 5 children so alternate throughout the day with each child. Laura x

Thanks for that busybee2 - I will get onto that. Have just been asking around before going anywhere, I know quite a few teachers already in government schools and some in private. Most said its not really evident in schools. Thats why I thought there might be need for home tutoring/ help/ advice for parents. I have a job offer with government but delay in VISA. My husband is here so I'd rather be keeping busy than waiting around, plus as its my passion I'd like to try to pursue it. I'll def look into your suggestions though - thank you :-) i would try and "sell" yours services to the private schools etc.... i know that bsak are trying to improve its learning support, which is still pretty good for ab dabs. tutoring is not allowed unless you have the correct visa... i know that all the teachers in the brit curriulum schools doesnt allow for private tutoring only the music teachers etc can do private tutition. now the government schools would be a very different kettle of fish. go and talk to dr yousef he is the main doctor at american center for pyschology and neurology... he used to work at skmc, they do the testing etc too. skmc : they also need good english speaking people doctors too.
