I wish to place an ad in the Classifieds section but the only 'job' section appears to be for domestic help.

The idea behind advertising here on EW is that it would be a great role for someone looking for 25-30 hours a week [so basically, p/t with flexibility for kid-related stuff] who is perhaps looking to return to work after having time off. Perfect audience, I thought. :)

Anyway if the admin or someone else can advise me, that would be great.

PS. We don't want to go through a recruitment agency; too much hassle etc.

Ladybee you are great. Just to add though ... We're in the year 2014. While it's fair to say there are a lot of trailing spouses out here, there are still many women who -- shock/horror -- work or want to work. Yet on the EW home page -- "the best community website for all the information you need about living in Abu Dhabi/Dubai/etc" -- the selection of topic links are: Food & Drink Education Family Sightseeing FAQs Discover Dubai Shopping Where to live Out & About [concerts, charity events etc'> Health Beauty Fitness & Nutrition And that's your lot. I can't deny the list is comprehensive for the purposes of filling one's day or weekend, but to not even have the tiniest reference to advice/help for working or even volunteering is pretty poor. Not everyone is a SAHM in these parts. Or wants to be. :( LadyBee, you are absolutely right ...

Hi LadyBee, The classifieds section is reserved for items that you wish to buy and sell and also for free maids advertisements. Should you wish to advertise a job we have a jobs section which has a list of employers hiring in Dubai - check it out [url=http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_jobs.aspx '>here[/url'>. Should you wish to advertise the position on our jobs board please email [email protected]. EW Admin

25-30 hours is the absolute MAX. It will more likely be 20-25 hours. Plus, the person employed would be able to take time out for school pick-ups etc and work around their own commitments in order to fulfill the role.

What sort of skills are you looking for LB? Bu88er it. I'll just put the 'basic' job description here ... A British IT firm is seeking a skilled Project Manager for a contract period of six months with an expected weekly commitment of 25-30 hours. However, there will be some degree of flexibility for someone with the right skills and profile. This would be an ideal role for someone who now lives in Abu Dhabi and wants to return to the workforce initially on a part-time basis. We require someone who is highly skilled in the process of managing projects to PMI, MSP or Prince standards and who can stay on top of all actions, deliverables, timelines and risks to support an extremely technical team. You will need to prove that you have at least five years’ experience in project management using an industry-recognised methodology, with proficiency in any version of MS-Project and familiarity with MS Office Suite programs essential to the role. British English is the language of the project and excellent communication skills are imperative ie English needs to be spoken and written to first-language standards. If you do not have a working visa, the company will process this on your behalf on receipt of an NOC letter permitting you to work. An attractive package will be negotiated for the right candidate.

ladybee you can place an ad in the jobs section, you pay for it, but you get good responses. did this recently for a professional role. speak to admin and they will sort for you. That's brilliant. I emailed the jobs section this AM and am waiting for a response. I don't mind paying; it's the EW audience I'm keen to target. As this is a P/T position, we are looking to fill it with the best possible candidate who is happy to work fewer hours, BUT I personally am keen to attract someone from the pool of great women I just *know* are out there who are looking to get back into the market but can't yet work F/T [and who want to use this job as a leaping-off point for future roles'>. Thanks so much for the feedback. I will await the EW response. :) . edited by LadyBee on 19/05/2014 What sort of skills are you looking for LB?
