Hi all

So DH moved to dubai in Feb and started work. Myself and our two kids have been in the UK while DH has been sorting out housing etc.
He's secured a family home which will be ready at the beginning of May.

I do realize moving towards the middle/ end may is probably the worst time in terms of heat ! I was in two minds but the children miss their father so much that we feel we need to be together.

I was hoping for some help from fellow mums as to how to manage with the kids during the summer months - what do you do with the little ones, my two are 6 and 3. They have never experienced extreme heat before and also being couped up in the house 24/7 is not ideal! Any specific things hat you do with your kids to get through the summer month? Any help is much appreciated !!

Like Daza we stay here for summer and never do summer camps. After non stop school runs until late in June we are all exhausted for any more summer camps and go with a slower pace. Near by parks and community pool or ocassional mall visit is all we do. If you have outdoor space in your home evening are pretty manageable for some wet fun. Although the going gets a bit tough near the end of august if all our friends are away for summer. You could come and see how it goes and then may be look for summer camps as needed but pick ups and drop offs are quite a struggle in mid summer heat.

Hi Foodfanaticmum This will be our tenth summer here and apart from one summer when we were gone the whole time we are normally here most of the summer. We've never done summer camps, call me lazy but I love the relaxed pace in summer and we have many pyjama days where my children have a marvelous time wrecking the house while I loaf online and occasionally throw food their way  This summer should be a bit easier as Ramadan will finish early in the holiday so there will be a lot more options to eat out during the day. When we make it out the house we go to malls and indoor play areas for a run around. By the end of the holiday I practically come out in hives at the words 'soft play'. Extreme Fun is and indoor play area very close to where you will be living and is great for your age children. We spend time at our community pool, we have the obligatory trip to the Sharjah Wildlife Centre, we do loads of play dates and we sometimes do a night or two staycation to break things up a bit. I like my children to get some time outside every day so once the sun is down I shoo them outside with a sprinkler on or the slip n slide or a stack of water balloons. As long as the sun is off our garden and they get wet the heat is fine. There are many positives to summer here, you'll be fine :)

the most popular choice at that time of the year for parents with children staying back are the summer camps... unfortunately due to the fact that schools here run till the end of June most of these camps wouldn't start till 3rd July and would then have a few days off again during the Eid break. the camps are multi sport or multi activity and tend to keep the children entertained for half day (normally 8 to 2 or 9 to 3)... other than that some other activities you can engage in are as follows: - play areas in malls - indoor pools @ health clubs - movies at the theatre for your younger one the camps would be at the nurseries... so the easiest would be to pick one closest to your residence as their hours might be shorter than the ones for your older child...
