Buying pre owned car

I am planning to buy a Ford Escape. A pre-owned costs AED70,000 in the authorised dealer showroom. On Dubizzle it costs around AED52,000 for the same vehicle.

What kind of due diligence I should take if I were to purchase from the open market? Where can I take the car for inspection or evaluation?

Thanks

Hi, If you want to buy a pre-owned car then you have to check many things like the working condition, age of the car, how well it is maintained etc. Why can't you consider a new car as it is Ramadan we have many offers right now. Check once with new cars then decide. http://www.mymoneysouq.com/financial-blog/best-car-deals-cant-miss-ramadan-2017/ check this for offers right now for Ramadan and go for a good one.

Well, if you're going to consider buying a pre-owned car, then you should really check if it is properly maintained by the dealership. It's better that you are sure on where you are spending your money

We purchased a so called ''demo" car from Al Futtaim and around 6 months later discoverd that it had been in a major accident when doing a transfer of title at Tasjeel as it failed the test, got on the phone to the salesman, and he never denied it, took it to managment and got a full refund after a lot of hassle, they did wrong and had no option but to refund as the option of a court case for deception and fraud would not be a good thing for them, would never buy a car or trust a main dealer again. We would have never known if it hadnt failed the test.

I would also make sure they check the car hasn't been involved in any accidents and that they don't just check the usual stuff tyres/lights/brakes. I have heard of people buying cars here and after the sale finding the air con has packed in and the car has been involved in a heavy smash. I would pay for it to go to an independent leading garage and have it thoroughly checked over from top to bottom Well, I would agree with you. It's better to check in order for you to determine if the car is really in a good condition. This is a great idea in order for you to avoid regrets

Well of course the dealer car will cost more, as they have to put a mark up to make a profit. You can take the car to Tasjeel to get it checked over. Check to see if there's any outstanding loans on the vehicle.
