Hi Ladies,

I am now just over 9 weeks pregnant. My next appointment is the nuchal translucency scan at 12 weeks. I was wondering if any of you have done the non-invasive prenatal testing such as the Nifty, Harmony or Serenity test in Dubai which is usually done around the same time? And if so where did you go and how much did it cost? Would you recommend it or is it a waste of money?

Hi , This is a testimony of hurdle I went through during my third pregnancy. First of all there is a big scam in UAE on this NIPT gender test. We got the contact of Mohammed (NIFTY) from a portal and contacted him, as he suggested I flew to UAE to give blood sample for NIPT test on my 13th week of pregnancy. Through a person (Ansari) Mohammed arranged blood sample collection in a lab based in Karama, but no recipet or any confirmation will be given. Same day I returned back to my country with slight doubt about their trust. The report was shared via whatsapp very next week. The whole idea of doing NIPT was to know the gender of the baby. Many of the Indian parents wish to do this in early weeks of preganncy, but due to legal restrictions it is not allowed in our country. That's the reason many are approaching UAE for the same. So did we. My husband and I had a feeling that this people haven't send the sample for test, instead shared us a fake manipulated report. It was a challenge, but we decided to continue pregnancy. Now on my 36th week of pregancy I have delivered a baby boy now through C- section procedure. We are glad that we didn't go with those fake report, though we lost some money through those scammers. They do know how much worry and frustration we are going through those days, in the midst of those struggles these scammers are taking the benefit of our weak situation . I do not know how to suggest a genuine NIPT test to pregnant mothers, may be it would be more trustworthy to go through a hospital than contacting private scammers.

Hi there - sorry for the late reply! It was actually her Obgyn when she was living in Doha that ordered it for her but I believe any Obgyn worldwide can order the test. Basically her Obgyn ordered the test on the official website, sent her blood sample to the lab in the USA, she was sent a link to pay the AED 364/USD 99 with her credit card and the final report was sent to her Obgyn within 6 days.

I posted about this in another forum. My sister only had to pay ~360 DHS for her NIPT test from an American lab called Invitae. Her Ob-gyn ordered the test and she just had to pay online using her credit card and it was super fast service (I believe she got her results back in 5 days).

Hi,ladies . I did NIPT and i ll give My best to transfer My knowledge. I just say I did it in lab where my doctor recommended it,but now I would never go again there. I did a lot of research and I must say there is one German clinic /lab which is having doctor there on the spot while you are doing your test. Majority is like mine companies which are sending you in lab ti the the test. The name to avoid is WASP ,they are so unprofessional, they website is not working, agent named BUSHRA sent me to lab in al Barsha but they don’t even give you receipt,you must pay in cash and once she told me she will email me receipt, after 5 days of chasing her she sent me photo of paper receipt and as I explained to her I can’t do anything with it. Also I don’t like the fact here there are no contacts between hospital/lab/agents and us as customers as who is guaranteeing me that blood will arrive not contaminated or in case test will be jeopardized who will pay extra cost as I checked in Europe all my fiends who did had contract with clinic/agents. Also what I didn’t like about WASP she wasn’t able to give me more informations and she was very rude with !!! In our conversation. Only that German clinic I think was the one from last post here they have some kind of contract. But they are sending samples in Barcelona. Pretty much all others told me UK,,USA or China. So I m just hoping that with stem cells will be better and more professional. As for my friend advice I waited 12-13 week as concentration of blood is stronger and result can be more accurate. Hope this helps. Cost is from 2000-3000aed depends whom are you doing and how many days you are willing to wait. Where ever you are going ask them on which days are they transporting samples so you can schedule your visit accordingly.

Hi, Oh yeah! I too have done this nipt-harmony test. Because i was so afraid that my baby may have some genetic problems as in my family my grand parent is having some genetic disorders. So i took harmony test. Its really simple, nothing to worry. I have done this from a Laboratory named freiburg which is at Dubai. They were so caring ,the facilities and all was highly qualified and sophisticated. When i reach there, i didnt get a feeling of testing and i was so relaxed. We can ask them about all the procedures and they were really helpful. And by God's Grace my baby was healthy and didn't had any such problems. I've done it at the genesis clinic. It's very expensive no matter where you do it, 3000 AED and more. It's done from 11 weeks I think and gives you very high accuracy on risks, but still it's only a risk assessment - it cannot tell you 100%. Only you can decide if it's worth it. For me it was because I'm a huge worrier and couldn't stand the idea of a test that was available and I didn't do it, but if you have low risk after the NT scan then you might not worry. Oh and congrats on your pregnancy!

Hi, I got offered the NIPT test when I went to confirm my pregnancy... this was at Mediclinic at the Dubai Mall and they quoted AED3000. I thought about it and in the end decided not to do it, I have since had my 12 week NT scan and this was fine. Good luck in deciding...it really is a personal preference and there are many factors which might sway you one way or another. Also if you are desperate to find out the gender they can tell you for sure if you do this test... although when I went for my 12 week scan they were able to tell me then, although only 80% sure.
