So I am little worried as I have just had results back from doctors that show inconclusive Pap smear and positive HPV. The doctor has said I need a colposcopy but has now also said I may not be covered by insurance. Has any one else has experience with this? I am worried I won’t be covered as I cannot afford 5000dhs plus for the colposcopy.

Thank you so much Guerrera, I managed to get my doctor to ask for pre approval and my insurance have confirmed they will cover it. Thank god! just have to hope the results of the colposcopy are ok now.

It depends on your policy coverage. You can ask for pre-certification or pre-approval from the doctor. IF you call your insurance directly, they will not be able to directly see it on your policy, thus, let your doctor or healthcare provider ask for the pre-approval/pre-certification. Most often than not, if it is medically necessary, they will cover it but still depends on your policy. Each insurance company has a Pre-certification team that will review your case. I hope this helps.

Hi, it depends on your insurance, it might be covered. I experienced this recently and did not have any issues. My doctor requested pre-approval and once that was obtained we moved forward with the procedure. All biopsies were covered as well. I think the only thing that is not covered is the vaccination if you want to take it. I might help you fight the virus. Best of luck!

I don’t have direct experience but the only place you will get a conclusive answer is from your insurance company. Cover does differ slightly from company to company. They should give you an immediate answer. Hope it goes well.
