Hi ladies we are moving to Raha Beach due to husbands job after spending 2.5 years in Dubai. Not looking forwards to leaving all our friends behind, is anyone else in the same boat? We have a 5 month old son and I would like to put him into nursery at 12 months so that I can start working again. I have seen that most nurseries take kids from 18 months, do any of you know of a nursery out there who take from 12 months?

Also if you are in the same situation and want to meet up once out there get in touch :-)

Hi on the move, We moved here from Aus in Oct 12' with a now 8 month and 3.5yr old boys, we live in Al Muneera and love it! we are on the beach, we have numerous pools and social clubs/ kids groups on site, we have several restaurants and cafes on the beach and are a super short drive to supermarkets (can easily walk in the cooler months). If its beach living you are looking for then I'd suggest either Al Muneeraa or Al Zeina, there is no beach at Al Bandar and the pools are small and poor compared to Zeina and Muneera, but they do have great restaurants and a supermarket to compensate! Al Zeina is however on the approach path for Abu Dhabi airport and can be noisy, the planes are at 500ft when passing over :) It is pricy though and space at either Al Bandar, Muneera and Zeina will cost A LOT! we do have an amazing lifestyle, we went kayaking this morning before dropping my boy at nursery this morning and he will be going to the pool when he gets home later, all literally seconds from our front door! yes its expensive and yes we are happy to pay :) happy hunting x

Hi , we are also moving to Abu Dhabi in August from Australia, my husband will move in May. We are looking at Raha beach to live in either an apartment or townhouse. I have a 4 year old and 10 year old. Would love to make contact with other families before we move out. Is the housing expensive out there ? Looking on Internet but as in Australia looks can be deceiving in relation to size and area. Any other suggestions of beach locations would be very much appreciated :) Hi - we came over from Australia with a 4 year and 8 year old a few months ago. We wanted to be near the water and moved to Al Zeina in Al Raha Beach and love it! A beach, several pools and lots of secure space for the kids to run and play. Works really well for us as we wanted to be near schools as well. Prices vary a lot - it really depends on your budget. Saadiyat Island is another good beach location but does not have the infrastructure re schools yet. edited by onthemove2012 on 23/04/2013

Thank you BellaUK for the reply. I will join the FB group and Abu Dhabi woman and hopefully make friends. I will miss my friends and our life in Dubai but I'm looking forwards to a new adventure. Right better start calling the movers!

I moved to AD from Dubai a few years ago. There are definitely mums groups out there in AD. I beleive there is a FB group called 'Abu Dhabi Mums' and I am sure you could find more about nurseries on there. Scurry 77 no kids for me yet, but I do live in Sas al Nakheel, lovely compound and quite honestly the best I found in AD that was within a reasonable budget, it is a real community and that's what I was missing when I lived in an apartment in AD. The powerlines are there, but I did a lot of research before moving in and found there are no conclusive links to any health problems, having said that I still thought it was safer to be as far away as possible just in case, so we moved into a villa in the furthest corner away from them. Good luck with the move ladies. It is definitely different to Dubai and takes a bit of time to get used to. I do still miss Dubai so thankfully it's not too far away and I can go back for good shopping and to see my friends. If you need any more info happy to help. :)

Join the Al muneera social club, lots of play groups and classes taking place. We are even starting cooking classes. Children's play group is only 15dhs each session and the kids get to do arts and crafts as well, as play with all the toys. edited by FriendlyZ on 01/04/2013

there are alot of new nurseries in kca which will be the nearest place. raha gardens are very tightly packed in, and they are annoying all their residents at the moment by bringing in new systems at the entry gates. sas al nakheel is a good compound but right under the power lines, and nobody can find it....!

Hi Sunseeker - im in Dubai and will be moving to Abu Dhabi in Sept/Oct with my husband and now 6 month old baby girl. Scary prospect! There are no baby groups/classes/mums meets ups from what i can see :( Im looking for a nursery for my return to work in abu dhabi which im also struggling with being in dubai. I guess im going to have to spend a few weekends in abu dhabi searching around. Accomodation wise we've looked at Al Raha Gardens but they dont have a pool and seem to be packed in quite tightly. Next place to look at sas al Nakheel... Anyhow it will be great to meet up with someone with a baby the similar age - maybe we can meet for a coffee and swap nursery ideas etc..x
