Hey guys... I am having a huge problem here with my skin and was wondering if anyone else is suffering in the same way??!!! Back in SA (without trying to sound vain)I really had amazing skin... clear, smooth, and great!!! Spots were not even something that I ever though about... but now since iv moved here I am having the WORST break outs known to man... it is just awful!!! I am sure it is the climate... I am wondering if anyone has advice on what to do about this??? maybe i need to buy some local products that are suitable for the area and the climate? maybe my products that I was using back home are too rich or something? someone suggested that I rub teetree oil on before applying a moisturiser... should i maybe not use a moisturiser but rather a light gel based rub? my skin is a lot oilier than before.. in fact in sa i had slightly dry skin... i hope it will settle down and clear up soon :(

there is nothing worse than bad skin.. i feel so awful... any help or advice would be much appreciated ;(

I completely feel you! They say its because of the water here which has chemical that dries our skin. Imagine I have two kids getting eczema if I hadn't gone to dermatologist, it would have been worse. As for adults, topical products will do, however I find it hard to find the right skincare for my skin, so I went on the checking other products that might help my skin. I went using Relumins Advance glutathione - these are supplements or oral intake. It improves not only skin but also my health as the product claims that glutathione has numerous health benefits as an anti oxidant. work for me! :) You can see products from here marjoriebeautyproducts{dot}com. I buy mine from there. :)

‘Hello everyone. This is a desperate mother’s call for help. Since last few years, my daughter (who is born in UAE) started having some white patches on her back. The part becomes very smooth with very white toned area. Met many doctors, who initially said it’s due the severe dry skin/lack of vitamin D and asked us to keep using moisturizing /prescribed some medicine. But unfortunately since last year it started growing all over her body, her full chest/legs/arms are covered with small/big white/discolor patches. She is going to be 10yrs next month. She always wears fully covered dress & leggings so that nobody is aware of her situation. Very few notices her changes but once it will start coming on her face/neck/hand people will notice more. I am particularly worried that she will be or is currently bullied or cornered in school for her skin disease. She has almost no friends. I'm extremely depressed by watching my little girl feeling uncomfortable (shy away) as days passes by. She was very good in are studies, always ranked 1st or 2nd but unfortunately she isn’t doing well anymore since last semester, its affecting her studies and her behavior too. She has almost no friends. We have a doubt that it’s growing towards 'VITILIGO' but never made her aware of it. We always try to give her confidence and try to make her feel its normal no big deal. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP US. Can anyone recommend a good & reliable skin specialist or Ayurvedic doctor/clinic in Abu Dhabi? Not keen to have to go up to Dubai, but I will if needs be. if you've had personal experience of this doctor/clinic, your feedback would be great in helping me find my way. Thanks!’

My skin broke out badly afteer 10 days here in dubai. And i have always had perfect skin - like snowwhite perfect (only not so pale haha) The only thing that helped was the following: DO NOT EAT local CHICKEN, EGG and MILk!!!!!!!! They put sooo much hormones in the stuff ( go for imported stuff instead) Once you stop eating this your skin will clear! Do not waste money on derms, new creams, water filter etc But where can one buy chicken and milk that is NOT local?! I never see that stuff!

I feel your pain! And I'm also looking for a solution- however I don't suffer from breakouts but more excess sebum and milea, which are notoriously hard to treat yourself. And, like you, when I was in SA my skin was fine. But nevertheless it makes me feel unhappy too! I'm looking for a good dermatologist who will a) do a proper diagnosis; b) actually listen to what I'm saying and c) give me proper treatment plan without trying to make a quick buck. Hey! However different our problems are I can imagine just how unhappy it makes u :( . I am no professional but I did a little research of my own.... from what I can tell adult milea often becomes present after the skin is in some way "burned".. or exposed to overly high intensive skin treatments or temperatures... eg.. sum ppls skin reacts by having milea breakouts after laser or even microdermabrasia... i guess it all just depends on the sensitivity of one's skin... ur skin is obv reacting to the heat and intense humidity that we are not used to here. Your pores are also getting blocked because they are producing too much oil.. so where my skin breaks out urs reacts in this way - equally yucky! I would def go to a derm. if i were you...im sure there are easily accessible treatments for this problem... as for your sebum problem - I am guessing you are meaning that you are sweating a lot... you get special roll ons prescribed by dermis for this problem which apparently do wonders... sum ppl hav chronic problems in this regard and actually hav to have operations to block the pores and prevent the sebaceous glands from producing so much sweat - however I doubt this will be the case with you since the problem only started when u moved here... go to a derm, get sum medical roll on, creams and or pills for the milea and I'm sure in a few months youll feel and look like new ;) I will let you know how my dermi appt. today goes and whether or not the dr is good.. I'm goin to the Gulf Diagnostic Clinic, which I hear is very good... chat soon and chin up!! P.s As naive and annoying optimistic as it may sound ... positive thinking does wonders... i told myself every day that my skin was fine and that and tried not to think about break outs and negative thoughts surrounding this and i really believe that it helped alot... if u focus all ur energy on how bad it is.... and how its only gonna get worse and worse here.. it probably will.. jus focus on getting it better and try not to think about it too much...

Hey guys, just thought I would give a quick update since I started the thread... my skin was hideous in the first month, but in the past 2 weeks it has improved quite a bit... I havent even used anything yet that was suggested... its still not what it was when I was in SA but it seems to slowly but surely be sorting itself out... I think it just went through a big initial shock and needed (still needs) some time to properly acclimatize. I am going to buy teetree oil tho from the body shop and apply some of this twice a day under a moisturizer because friends of mine that have been living here for a while swear by this! It apparently dries out the over active oil that is produced as a result of the heat and prevents the pores from developing into clogged white heads/black heads or pimples... i might also buy the Thursdays Plantation facial wash, which is also teetree based and which my friends also swear by... I made a dermi appt. a while back and am actually going today... even though my skin is getting better on its own I still want to go and get a proper opinion and recommendation of how to maintain it looking good in this weird climate. So will let you know how that goes.... Just to state the obvious tho as well... the pill really helps with skin problems, I am not on it at the moment but am going to go on it again I think really soon as this fixed my problems in the past (earlier teenage years) if you worried about weight gain, YAZ is the way forward. Now - can someone please tell me about this microdermabraison... what is it and how much does it cost??

I charge half the price of salons. It is true you get best results after regular sessions however it becomes addictive as the results are great. I have mine done every 2 weeks but you can maintain by having it monthly. It speeds up cell renewal leaving your skin more even toned and more plump as it promotes collagen, after awhile you will find you won't even need much make up anymore ! I did leave my contact details if you or anyone would like more info or email me on [email protected]

@SydneyGirl: I've considered microdermabrasion but I've heard it's hellishly expensive and one has to have numerous sessions to see any effects!

Microdermabrasion is great for treating these problems as it sucks up all the dead skin and impurities. The diamond head is non invasive and you get brilliant results even after the first treatment you feel your skin can breathe. If anyone is interested contact me on 0551079234

Although Vit B is a good idea, I'd be weary of taking it as it has caused me terrible nausea in the past!

I had exactly the same problem and the answer to my prayers are vitamins. I take vitamin B complex everyday and the spots disappeared instantly. I was thinking about changing all of my skin care products (makes it sound like I use a lot... just moisturiser and a mild facial scrub wash thing!) but haven't bothered now. Good luck.

Try clay masks to get rid of the oiliness. The Tea tree mask fro the body shop is good. Even the Rose Formula Antioxidant Facial Mask from Neal's Yard Remedies is really good. Go for a light moisturizer afterwards.

I am you, still struggle but a dermatologist helped. The climate, the polution, the harsh water are all a factor.
