I need help and guidance for finding therapy for my 10 year old son with autism. I was in contact with DesertRose1958 some years ago and she was a great help but we lost touch and I would want to connect up with her and any one else who can help.

Thankyou

Yes I too got a call today saying that the XY clinic has closed down in Dubai and replaced by the Brain Academy which claims to help but no tests for autism. I really was hopeful but its now back to square one sadly.

Hi trustgone, I tried calling the XY Clinic and even contacted them via email but there has been no revert. Are you still consulting with them or have they closed down?

Hi Ladies - The clinic is called XY Clinic - if you put in XY Clinic Dubai it Is the first one that comes up. You can contact them directly from here - they will ask you to complete the online assessment first which you can find on their website - for Autism you fill in the Autism spectrum assessment, for ADHD you fill in the brain boosters assessment . So I basically did this before setting up the appointment. the appointment took place at their Diagnostika Medlabs, in Dubiotech ( near the ranches). He will have a chat with you based on the assessment, then her will give you a little pot and test kit to collect your kids urine. This sample gets sent to Europe - it takes approx. 3 weeks to come back with the results - based on this the Doc comes up with a plan. I can't remember the exact cost but it was not crazy prices! Some of the vitamins are standard such as Omega 3, gentle iron, vitamin B1, then there are others such as Gaba, Alpha Lipoic, NAC etc - everyone's plan will be different depending on the finding from the sample collected. At first it is a pain preparing all the vitamins as most are capsules, and some doses are 1/2 a capsule of this mixed with 1/2 a capsule of that etc. After a month I had a good system going, bought empty capsules from the USA, bought a big pill box and went from there. It takes me now 20mins to prepare a weeks worth and this is for 4 times a day. Morning, dinner, 6pm and bed! It takes approx. 2-3 weeks until you start seeing the results - honestly it has been the best thing we have ever done - concentration improved, behavior improved, school work improved - life is for sure much much better. I am online for the next 15mins if you want to ping me your details and we can chat!

Hi trustgone, I recently went to a support group and someone there was mentioning that her son consults a nutritionist in US who has prescribed some vitamin mixture after she did some tests and she too mentioned the bit about neurotransmitters being different in each child. I cant travel to the US so was wondering about the same availability in Dubai as really the behavior is the main issue with both my kids and if that gets settled, lots of options will open up with them. Can you send me more details on this clinic you mentioned? Are they very expensive? Thanks

Hi av1988 - have you tried any sort of Vitamin Supplements? My daughter has ADHD, and we went to XY clinic, did a urine sample and basically sent it to a lab in Europe which came back with the results which showed that her neurotransmitters were imbalanced - based on this they give you a plan to take certain vitamins at certain times of the day etc etc. We were almost, going to go down the "real" drug route, but 1 year on I am so glad we didn't, as this has worked pretty well for us. It really has controlled the outburst behavior, home life and school life is much much better. Sorry I know your qu was about therapy, but this may help as well. Just let me know if you want more info.

Thankyou There is an autism center in Dubai called the Doris duan young autism center located in health care city. The owner is an American and has another center in Florida.I know they have speech therapists and use different techniques to treat children like games and such and they have different rooms for playing and learning. check them out.

Yes, it upsets me too that my child does not have a place to go to. And in his own way, he is trying to tell me that he needs something. Dubai Autism centre has a wait list of four years. I have registered with them. In terms of Al Noor, I really don't know how well equipped they are in dealing with autism as they have a team dedicated to many other special needs where behavioral issues are very minimal. I used to be part of the Genesis Forum, but that seems to have died down and I do not know of any support group where I could find out something for my children. Thanks for the replies.

Have you tried Dubai autism center or Al Noor Training school? I am sure the one of the above 2 centers will accommodate your children. It is not easy to keep them occupied all the time at home.

It can be behavioural therapy, recreational therapy. He isnt going to any school because of aggressive behavior. Many schools outright refuse because of this. Tried one to one therapy but it wasn't successful and very expensive. I have twins with autism. He doesn't have much to look forward to in a day

What type of therapy are you looking for? Is he going special need school? Normally special need schools provide the therapy along with their studies.
