Hi, I need a black pashmina or shrug or bolero type thing for the weekend for an evening function, so not daywear. I looked through a few stores in Dubai mall today with no success. Everything was bright and sparkly and not what I want. I tried Bloomingdales, Galleries Lafayette and a few stores inbetween. Any suggestions? Wish I had lots of time to shop and shop, but I don't.

Antiques Museum can be a little expensive. You can get same quality cheaper at Karama . Bargain, I believe the antique museum suplies most of the shops in Karama anyway - same labels.;)

The one I use for an evening shawl/coverup is from an Abaya shop - muslim ladies would use it as a sheyla - it's large, easily draped around the back and shoulders, sits elegantly and lighter than wearing a normal pashmina. The one I use has tiny crystals on each end so gives it a little bit of glam. Just go into any Abaya shop and there will be a huge selection. Avoid the shops in Dubai Mall as they will be very expensive.

Embo and Redlesley - thank you for your very kind offers. Going back to Dubai Mall this morning and going to try all the shops suggested, hoping to find it in the first one I go in.

Antiques Museum can be a little expensive. You can get same quality cheaper at Karama (AM have a shop there which happily undercuts!!) or textile souk. Try Aleem at Asia East - I have bought tons of stuff there and he always does a good deal.

I bought a really pretty black evening cardigan, you know the ones with the longer front tails that are all over the place now, and the back is lacy - it is quite dressy and very pretty. I got it in Forever 21 and it was Dhs 69 maybe worth a look. Black pashminas should be a doddle to find here, and they are always useful!

I have a black pashmina you're welcome to borrow if it's an emergency! It's not wool but sheer with a few sequins and is definitely more of an evening shawl than everyday. It's plain black. Let me know if it helps :)

Try the antiques museum in al quoz, they have thousands of pashminas in every colour, different qualities, styles, plain, embellished and beaded.
