Hello Sisters! :) How's it going? Making this thread active again lol (sorry about that, kinda desperate to cut my coffee intake) Just wanted to know if the Chicory is a good substitute for coffee? Any tips where I can buy it in Deira, Dubai area? Thanks in advance!

In France they sell pure chicoree Leroux ( brand) it can be added to coffee when using a press or an electric coffee maker. They now also sell instant chicoree : add hot water and you get a chicoree drink. Thanks, Shaks, that's yer man, I'd forgotten the name Leroux :)

simpleasabc, yes it is kinda coffee too.. it is made from the chicory's root - and if it is sold in pure form - than it become very beneficial in lowering blood sugar. Sorry for calling it a tea. shaks, do you mean they mix chicory and coffee beans? Or it is in form of pure grinned chicory root? will look online now - might try to order online.... otherwise will bring from russia, when i go visit my mom... thanks for replies =) Oh, I didn't know that about it. The one I'm thinking of, which I used to find in a red box with a white pattern on it, in Champion (=Carrefour) in France, is pure ground (grinned is a lovely image, but not really the word you want here, Lexie!) root, I think. You never know, it's worth a look.

Carrefour has a mix chicoree/instant coffee. The pure instant chicoree is not available. I tried to order online from France and could not get it

I love raw endive salad, and endives cooked and baked with ham and bechamel sauce with cheese. I get the endives from Spinney's, but chicory is a different thing in my vocab. Darn, hungry now, might go to Spinneys. Or be lazy and order from the Copper Chimney, which for some reason I always want to call the Copper Kettle.

Not sure whether this is what you want but the leaf chicory is sold in places like Waitrose and Spinneys. I buy it quite often but not as tea more salad things.

Hi, Lexie! Sorry, I thought chicory was a coffee substitute? In which case, I know it's easily available in France, so maybe you could try the French supermarkets here (Géant, Carrefour)?
