Good morning ladies,

We have 2 rugs/carpets at home, nothing fancy, 200x300cm. I found threads on Churchill who will come around and clean them, but they have a minimum charge and I don't have enough things they can clean to cover that.

My husband suggested to buy a carpet washing machine and keep them clean all year round. Great idea except I have only found 1 machine so far that does this: Hoover Wash 'n' Dry at Carrefour. It's quite big and bulky, and as it's upright, can't be stored on a shelf (I'm comparing to Rainbow in terms of size, who once came around for a demo but its way too expensive).

Anyone out there using a different brand? Which? Where from? And what was the cost?

Or does anyone know of another company that will pick up or come over to clean rugs without charging so much? I asked one laundry place and they charged AED 700 per rug! They cost AED 2,000 each so cost of maintenance should make sense...

Thanks!

I always use option plus carpet cleaning for carpet and rug cleans outcomes of this cleaner is really very effective. I will suggest you contact carpet cleaning Kelowna. your idea of the machine is also not bad, you need to expend only once then doesn't need again and again. All the best.

I always use Sheba Carpets in the Central Souq in Sharjah to clean all my carpets. Rashad, 0506786168, will come and collect from your home and deliver back - Dubai, AD and Al Ain. He does a great job. I have also bought all my carpets from him. I recommend his service and his prices. His English is also good which is a bonus. mrs b , what are rashad's prices like for carpets? I think Rashad's prices are very reasonable. I suggest if you are genuinely interested in purchasing carpets, look around well first, get an idea of what you want, the different qualities, types, colours, and prices etc and then call / visit him with a firm idea of what you want. Then you have some idea of what he is showing you and have a good place to start bargaining the price. I have bought most of my carpets from him - the first ones, I regret, not, and I paid way too much for them in Dubai. I think he is fair.

OP, If you live in a place that have a big space, if a villa or a big balcony in your apt. May I suggest that you can wash your carpet yourself? I do wash all the carpets in my house, it will cost you the carpet cleaner and carpet brush...read the instruction on the carpet cleaner and what it says....the hose it down with plenty of water... That's the way carpet cleaning cost me less than 10 dhs. HTH

Thank you! lou86, I'll give them a call. They seem very reasonably priced! Yorky, I thought of the option of letting them clean other stuff but I don't have heavy curtains at home and my furniture is all leather, no upholstery... Anyone with another recommendation on a company that has a quicker turnaround time or a machine I can buy please let me know of your experience!

I have used Churchills and they were great. I also had the same problem as I only had a few rugs that needed cleaning so to make it up to the minimum charge I also had them clean some of the downstairs curtains (mainly the ones which are on the patio doors that we use). They made a great job of removing some of the marks on the curtians so was glad that I had them done.

I use Pilgrims dry cleaners and have done for my rugs for nearly 3 years, It takes about a week but i'm always happy with the results, they collect them the same day i call them and drop them back the only bad thing is sometimes i have to call them to chase up after 6 days to ask when it will be returned, My big heavy rug cost AED 150 (2X3m) and a lighter rug cost AED 75 same size just not as heavy 800 7454 746
