Hi,

Me and my friend are planning to start a web based business in UAE and have decided to go for a Free Zone license. Is it possible to get a Dubai Free Zone license with a virtual office? As in the beginning we wouldn't be requiring any office space. And if it is possible, then could someone recommend a company which can help us out with this setup. Any help would be appreciated.

Have a great day ahead :)

Cheers!

Can anyone tell me the procedure for a virtual office in Dubai? I would love hear from your guys. If you need company with virtual office - they're allowed in some Dubai free zones only (DMCC, DWC, DSOA). Or are you interested in virtual office without company?

Hi! I found RAK free trade zone very helpful. The procedures were simple and it didn’t take very long. 07-2041118 is the number of the person who connected me to the sales guy. They also have an office in Dubai Festival City. You can chk www.rakftz.com for more details. Hope this helps! how interesting. friend has his biz visa through RAK, they were hopelessly incompetent, made him make loads of trips to RAK....and his maid's visa was so much more expensive than doing through dubai! he registered his child's visa in december, still doesn't have her emirates ID card!!! hopeless. will mention the festival city office tohim.... Well, maybe he made it through RAKIA, not through RAK FTZ - there are 2 free zones in RAK in general the cheapest one is Creative City if you're going for service license (and don't need visa) and Ajman - if you're in need of trading license

Thanks [b'>shelo09[/b'> I didnt know that! I assumed RAK FZ license meant lots of trips to RAK Are you happy with Creative City? It's part of Fujairah but they have an office in Dubai right? Sorry there's so many FZ's out there I'm getting confused! I just want a trade license with a virtual office, it's an e-commerce site I'm looking to start Thanks!

You dont have to do visa runs for these freezones. Creative city has its branch office in dubai so can submit all the paperwork here and also do you medical in Deira.

my company is through ajman fee zone and they have just set up an office on SZR. I found them to be the most reasonable and the process was very simple. I work within the UAE. hi dubai1999 did you have a minimum capital requirement?

Hi, Ajman FZ has a minimum capital requirement. Has anyone used RAK or Dubai World Central? Dubai World Central costs more but at least it's still in Dubai, don't want to make trips to RAKhaimah for visa runs etc

Technically, no, but practically, yes. Freezone companies can technically only do business within the free zone, or outside the UAE (e.g. import/export). But its not at all monitored/enforced. Most companies I know registered in free zones (media companies, designers, consultancies) are providing their services to onshore UAE clients.

Can we do business in Dubai with a license from Ajman free zone? I have spoken to the Ajman free zone as well as the Central office for Free zone in Dubai. As long as you fall under the Professional Services category, you can operate in any of the Free Zones in the UAE with a license from Ajman FZ. But manufacturing/selling products are a different ball game. Its best to speak to them regarding your line of business. I also think that Ajman FZ are the cheapest.

Honestly, I don't know why anyone would pay a company to set up an entity in a free zone. I guess if the company's fees are very reasonable, it might make sense. Or maybe if you're a very busy person and do not have the time to do it. However, it's really not that hard to set up. You might have to jump through numerous hoops until it's all done But, if you already live here, you know what it's like to jump through hoops to get stuff done. You cannot set up a company onshore unless you have a 51% Local partner hence why people create freezone companies. They get 100% ownership. If you want to do businesses such as trading within the UAE you have to use an approved agent to sell your goods inside the UAE.

You can do business inside the UAE (onshore) with certain freezone licences. I can run my business through Creative City providing lifestyle consultancy (covers me decuttering). Ajman free zone was aimed more for industrial business (cheaper version of JAFZA) and i believe it was not possible to work onshore only in the free zone. It may have changed recently.

Can we do business in Dubai with a license from Ajman free zone? Depends on the business, depends on the freezone I've repeatedly been told that if you have a business in a freezone you are supposed to do your business in the freezone only. However, loads of people with freezone licenses do business in Dubai so I think it doesn't apply to consulting-type businesses. You cannot, however, legally rent an office in the mainland with a freezone license. You also cannot do sales outside the freezone

Can we do business in Dubai with a license from Ajman free zone? Yes, and they have a Dubai office. Although you probably need to head to the main office to get registered.

Creative Zone just helps you set up a business in Creative City. Go direct to Creative City and file the paperwork. Cheaper and easier. If you do want to have the license from Dubai check out Silicon Oasis and and DMPZ (the media production zone near Greens roundabout on Sheikh Mohammed Road).

Creative and Virtue are rather pricey. Better opt for Ajman free zone - it's much cheaper (around 20,000 for company with flexi office) and they have license for web business. At the same time if u want to start business somewhere where u'll be able to upgrade to a real office later think about DWC or DMCC. DMCC with flexi office will cost around 50,000

It's likely that you will need to enter into a lease in order to register in a free zone (at least that is the case with the free zones I deal with). The cheapest way to go is to ask to lease a flexi desk. So, you'll get a lease that entitles you to the use of a flexi desk for a certain number of hours per week. The flexi desk will be at the free zone's headquarters. As far as hiring someone to help you set up, I'm not aware of any company that I would or would not recommend. However, I can tell you that free zones want business, so they have staff that are ready and willing to help you get set up with as much ease as possible. However, consider you are still dealing with Dubai, so no matter how easy they try to make it, there's always the possibility a new requirement popping up.
