Is there a specific law in UAE that states of the period of which the company has to pay the employee their final settlement?

Scenario: last day of working 31 December 2010
Till date (16 Jan 2011) HR has not go the final settlement calculation right - claiming missing time sheets, etc. (luckily all is scanned and was able to provide them with a copy...)

Question is: is there a period after last day at work that the company needs to pay for the final pay?

Can't find detailed info on the web - hoping EW can help.

thank you

Flower Girl... that situation smells! Visa can't be cancelled without your signature confirming that you have received your final settlement - question arises: who has signed your document? I would not let so much time lapse as you only have 30 days to leave the country...

They dues should be given as soon as visa is cancelled. In some special circumstances (ie. legal case against employer) the visa can be cancelled and dues paid later.

Thank you for the feedback all! visa was cancelled by 6 Jan - but have not signed any paper to say all has been received - there has been various disputes on flights entitlement and outstanding holidays .... Visa will not be transferred - leaving country for good. They can't cancel your visa without you signing that you have recieved all money due....... you need to check this out ASAP

The FSS should be agreed at time of visa cancellation as there is an agreement that is signed stating that the Employee has recieved all monies outstanding to him. Also if you are transferring your visa this can also be delayed because it depends on your new employer processing your new visa with the MOL- only after that has been completed is your previous company obliged to pay your FSS as technically you are still their responsibility. Generally, on average the processing of FSS can take up to one month.

as browneyed girl said, you don't get your final payment until the visa is cancelled.
