Oh you definitely want to take a look at this site http://www.greektravel.com/ and http://www.greecetravel.com/
His info is brilliant and he is also open toward e-mail communication.

We found that the prices you see on the internet is often double or more the prices quoted when you send an e-mail. Definitely send mails and ask for the best possible price. On many of the islands the landlords (apartments and bungalows) belong to an association that put down guidelines incl of uniform prices for similar holiday rentals. The guidelines are even displayed at the actual property and prices are the same as per internet. BUT that is not what you will be paying ;-)
In the past, we have rarely got replies to emails we've sent to Greek hotels. We've found ringing up when we are actually in Greece, or going to the hotel we want to stay in that night, gets the best rates, but that tends to work best out of season, of course.

I worked in Greece so have a huge love for the country. I have been back 3x with the kids. We usually go to Athens for a few days and then head to one of the islands. We had flights booked once and then the airlines went on strike so we were stuck in Athens. We took the ferry instead (the fast one) to Santorini. We've taken ferries ever since! Most of the hotels on the islands are acceptable for families without breaking the budget...no need to go 5*!
I'm sorry, I can't help as we are lucky enough to stay mostly with friends or family when we go to Greece . You might have a look at a place on the North West coast, called Parga. The waters are beautiful, it's family friendly, but possibly a bit too touristy nowadays. Otherwise, as I think I may have mentioned elsewhere, I am told that Grecotels are great for families and sporting activities. They are not for our pocket, though!
Thanks simpleasabc
I had looked at previous threads and when looked at the accommodation it wasn't what we were looking for with the kids but beautiful if it was just DH & I!
Wondered if anyone had been to any islands and found amazing family holiday resort/accommodation.
You could have a look at these threads, quite a few different places mentioned:

Wherever you choose, have a lovely time :)
We are trying to sort out what we are going to do in the summer and DH and I have both decided we don't want a long flight with the kids so now thinking Greece! Love Greece but only been there when I was a young, single girl island hopping in between hangovers so now I don't know where to go as a family! Open to ideas if anyone can recommend a family resort on the beach that will keep the kids entertained for a few weeks! Ta x
