Ok we are all aware of the hair disasters that happen to nearly every woman that visits a salon here. It doesn't matter what you pay, where you go or the popular name they are working under. They seem to be everywhere and OMG why do I always find them?
Why on earth is it so very hard for a, so called ,'experienced' or 'qualified' hairdresser to do a whole head of highlights/lowlights? Do they think we are so stupid in thinking that by just putting 15 foils in a thick head of hair even though we requested a full head that we will be so happy that we'll run back for a repeat visit?
I am absolutely sick to death of wasting hard earned money on these untrained so called professionals that are taking money and playing at being hairdressers with peoples hair.
All I need is a 'full' head of proffessionally coloured highlights and a really good cut and blow dry from a 'qualified and experienced hairdresser'.:angry::angry:

Hi there, I definitely understand your worries! I have been so tentative to go to a hairdresser that I haven't gone since I moved to Dubai. I finally went this past week on a recommendation and I absolutely love my hair! His name is Salah at Hair by Salah in Knowledge Village. He initially made my hair too ash blonde for my liking but I went back a week later and he fixed it for no charge. I can't comment on how his cut is as I only got a trim, his blow dry/style was great. I was actually amazed at how many foils he put in my hair - it took him over 45min just to put all the foils in so there is definitely no concern of not getting a full head of foils. The only con is that it takes him forever - I was there for 4 1/2 hours. He is also a bit pricey - I paid 850 but keep in mind I have really long hair and didn't get basic foils he did a pretty complex balayage which varying shades. Good luck with your search!

I go to Helen at Chill Salon, Media City. She is British with lots of experience and always makes my hair look amazing. I have dark hair but she is blond and will understand what you are looking for.

I can recommend Beauty Within in Dubai Marina. They have two hairdressers with a Finnish hairdresser degree (that is three years in college). They are very good with blonde hair and highlights and are Goldwell qualified. I find Goldwell is the best colour for blonde especially. I've been going there for over a year now and they fixed my butchered hair done by somebody that clearly wasn't properly qualified. Having highlights done there has taking several hours but at least it's done properly and not just a few foils. I have a long hair and lots of it but they take their time to do it well. Full head of highlights really means a full head there. Thank you N0rdque Wow I'm getting some great recommendations thank you so very much. xx

I have only ever gone to Ted Morgan at Motorcity since I moved here. Every time I have come out of the salon happy with my hair, although it is not cheap. I don't mind the location as there is plenty of parking there.

The only salon I found offer consistency is Ted Morgan in Motorcity, never heard a bad experience from there. I had the best cuts and colour there, but I am not fond of the location, so sometimes go other places. Their prices are on the high end as you would expect from good hairdressers, but still I pay less than Pastels and Hairworks for example that I find mediocre (although both chains have some good stylists, but they don't have the consistency as TM where I know I can book any stylist and get good result).

I'm a little indecisive with my hair too You'll be maybe looking at 500/600 dhs + but totally worth it, even if you just need that one time to just get started and then you can worry about it again in a few months or so Thanks Haim. Very handy to have a few good recommendations seen as people come and go often here. xxx

Hi Sarahlou123, At one hairdresser the lady rinsing dye off my hair called the hairdresser over as she noticed something wrong with the colour. After seeing it I was offered a repeat visit to see another stylist to try and repair the mess. But to be honest since then anywhere I go and I'm not happy I can't see the point so just never return. So would you recommend your salon? My best friend does mine and not in a salon ( If you catch my drift) ;-) Does she need another best friend? I am sure she would however if she did it and you didn't like it I would be mortified for recommending her  Lets be honest if you can be so happy for all these years it's worth a risk. Better to be recommended someone. You could ask her as I don't want to pressurise you or her.

why not specifically request for them to use the 'cap' method instead of the 'foil' method... though it does also depend on your length of hair... the cap method is most preferred for shorter lengths alternatively why not try the balyage method... colour sweeping as they call it... more natural! Hi HorizonMum2 Unfortunately my hair is too long for the cap. Gosh that takes me back. ha ha. Balyage is nice but sorry I really dont like 'growing out look'. Please don't get me wrong It does suit many ladies but i'm a little old for that look I think. But thank you for the thoughts. It's really the blond colour and amount of foils I am more concerned with. Thank you so much for the ideas though. xxx :)

Has anyone tried Shima hair salon at the greens?? Any opinions? Good for a blow dry but I wouldn't touch them for a cut or colour. ( Even more so if you are blond)
