Hi does anyone know if the Hatta border crossing is now open for non-GCC passport holders? I am a UK passport holder on a tourist visa (30 days) and need to do a visa run.

Thanks

The UK Home Office Travel Advice section has as its first item and still valid as of today 15/05/2016 that the British Embassy (in Dubai) has had reports of some travelers at Hatta being redirected to other borders to make the crossing from Oman to UAE and that if one is trying to make this border crossing one should consider taking another route and leaving more time for the journey.

The Hatta/Wajaja border crossing has never been closed to non-GCC passport holders. It is only the part of the E44 road between Madam and Masfout which passes through an Omani enclave which is closed to non-GCC passport holders. You have to take the E55 at the big roundabout in Madam and then the 102 road (or 120 road, I forget which but it is the Sharjah/Kalba road) and then rejoin the E44 at Masfout.
