AndreaA, I can't get the stuff back without implicating myself since she was part time - she knew that too! Hence the blatant stealing I think. Good luck in getting rid of yours- I'm pretty bitter about maids at present, in case you didn't notice!
Maids and stealing go together like peanut butter and jelly, expats need to wise up and be far firmer with their domestic help. You must report these thieves to the police without question.
My sympathies go out to you - I am in a similar position and because my maid was part time, I haven't a leg to stand on. She has stolen very valuable jewellery from me, after receiving only the best of treatment from me and being with me for 2 years. I am very sad and disappointed because I trusted and liked her. I haven't posted before because I know what EW will say as she was part time, so I am just commenting that I know how you feel - betrayed and very disappointed.:(
Thanks, you're right about disappointed and violated too, to think she went through all of my clothes to see which ones she wanted before taking them! Then to do the same to the children, i'm glad she's gone!
There are people here to just love to pick up on these things it doesn't matter if your maid was full or part time she's still betrayed your trust and hurt you. I'm really sorry, is there any chance of recovering any of the stuff?

Thankfully I have a great PRO who will deal with the airport/Visa stuff as now I have noone to mind the wee ones if I take her.
She packed up her room today and we found more and more of our stuff including clothes of mine and the children's. Also alcohol! We are so angry and upset but as of tomorrow morning she goes.
Yesterday I felt bad today I feel nothing but disappointment!
I dont think the precedure has changed? it is quite easy to do I believe.
Cancelling a Housemaid visas
It is easy
What you need to do/have
1. Fill in the visa cancellation form at the typist. Most typist can do it
2. A photocopy of the sponsor's passport
3. One way ticket for the housemaid.
4. You can cancel the visa at Dubai Airport. Go to the check-in counter.
5. Check in and obtain the boarding pass.
6. Go to the passport control counter. There will be a police check-point. They we tell you to go to the immigration counter to have the visa cancelled. Remember the sponsor has to be there. They will do the cancellation process, and ensure that there is no problem with the visa status.
Show them sponsor's passport, cancellation form and your housemaid's passport. They will also ask for the labour card.
7. The process takes 10 mins.
8. Your x-housemaid proceeds to the passport control counter and then to the boarding gate and you proceed home.
So she has gone to stay with friends until Sunday, we have her keys and said we will allow her back to pack up and ship her bits. I feel absolutely dreadful doing this bt I don't see I had much choice. Not a nice way to end the yearSorry to hear of this. IF she knows what is going on, she will 90% disappear. Just saying. You can cancel and ban her at the airport.
I agree - get her back - stay with her while she packs her stuff and take her straight to the airport and do the paperwork there and then watch to make sure she goes through immigration. Certainly wouldn't have her wait around - she'll run for sure......
Well said !!
