Been married for nearly 17 yrs. Things were great while still in home country but since he came here he has changed. I guess with just having himself to think of its hard for all to adjust. Just feel lost at moment. Dont want to give up on marriage been together to long. aww! dahling, don't feel so down. Don't even think about giving up until you feel better about yourself and your new surroundings. Do What I do: Get out in the sun, wear some nice white linen pants and go get a pedicure and a stunning new pair of sparkly sandals. After your mind is clear and you've got a bit of shine back on you, then think of one dilemma at a time. Deal with everything in it's due time and keep yourself and your boys number 1. It's easy to succumb to number 2 when there is a whole family to consider. Be happy! You sound great :)

My two sons are making great friends via school and community pool. Im at Motorcity and do get out and about driving on these crazy roads. Just feeling bit low at the moment, missing good friends/family. Do keep in touch back home. Will try Fairy Godmother Dubai. Hubby been out here for 18months before we arrived and its getting to know one another again but not going to well at the moment so really feel on my own, espically as you keep brave face on for the children. You can make good friends here and lots of them.....but that is not going to fix or replace your relationship with hubby. I think Dubai is an interesting place and a lot of people say it is a place that ruins marriages....but I think the truth is that being here simply removes all the crutches that might keep a struggling relationship alive when you are in your home country....(family, friends, work, routine) I guess you can use this time to take a good look at yourself and the relationship and see what you really want out of life. Good luck and use the resources on this website....

I feel for you. Everyone goes through that. I've been here nearly four years now. I didn't really make friends when I first came out here but as time has got on it does get better. I've made some really good friends with some of the ladies on here. Have you thought of taking up a hobby. I started tennis again here which kills time in the mornings. I've also made some good friends through play dates with my DD.

Aw Sarah, yes it's really hard to begin with and it took me ages to settle in, I think it does for most people initially to be honest. How about the mums in your kids class? Why not send a collective e mail to suggest a play date at a park after school one day? It's a start at least!

Cyber hug Wait until it is a little warmer and then head down to the community pool and you will start to meet mums with kids the same age and hopefully you will sort the wheat from the chaff and meet some ladies who you click with. Get your kids swimming and mixing and start networking, bit by bit it will all fall into place....but ladies are not going to come knocking on your door.....

Hi all. Well been in Dubai now for nearly 6months. All was well but now feeling very homesick, hubby works away 5 days a week. Children at school. Just feel could of stayed in home country seen as only see hubby at weekends. Have made friends for coffee mornings but still not the same. Need to work to get me out meeting people but has to fit in with children as i drop/collect them from school. Just feeling lonely, weepy. Gave up a lot to come here to be family again but begining to feel its all a mistake. Please tell me that you can make good friends here and that it gets better.:(
