Ok, was on my way from Al Barsha park on foot, jogging to my house which is 10 minutes away. Was wearing a full track suit, long sleeves etc... no skin showing. Land cruiser goes by, unrestrained kids inside, I would say around seven and eight years of age, they looked out of the window and make wolf whistling sounds. I saw the parents laughing! Nice way to teach kids their manners!

Don't think anything a child can do will ever shock me since an incident back home a few years ago. A child of no more than 8 came up to me really confidently and asked, after sultry taking a puff on his cigarette, if he could perform a s*xual act on me that I can not repeat on here. After I came out of stunned silence and politely declined his offer he just shrugged, took another puff on his cig, told me I didn't know what I was missing out on and then casualy walked away.....?! :-O edited by KaceyC on 11/01/2011 Are you sure it was a child and not a child like looking midget!

Their parents most probably told them to whistle at you as they find it funny. That just makes them idiot parents. Nothing to be horrified about. Laugh it off and accept the compliment even though the execution of it was in poor taste.

He was just with his mates, none of which looked over 12 yrs old. They weren't even laughing like it was supposed to be a joke either, when he walked away he just held his arms up in submission and his mates sort of patted his back as though to say 'You tried'...! I find it hillarious now!! :D

Maybe horrified was not the best choice of word but I agree with Ice7 that it is disconcerting when parents not only tolerate but encourgage disrespectful behaviour.

It is not polite, but quite honestly it is quite the norm here for rude kids and carppy parents. It would be like saying you are horrified to have been run off the road a few times in one trip out. This is Dubai. The land of the psychos. and I love it.

Oh lord.. This is no where near horrifying. After the last weeks worth of events in my life this is just a trivial little thing.

It is not polite for small children to wolf whistle, especially if the parents are with them and laugh! Yah next time will wear the abaya and maybe a face mask also... lol
