Realistically then, so where exactly are you suggesting that the "banned from residential areas" dogs go if not the commercial areas? The desert? Heaven? There arent really any other places... Maybe designated dog zones? I really think the solution is the idea of dog police/patrol and fines if not, what do you think is the solution wikkid? Designated dog zones? No - why should those of us who do abide by the rules be punished for those who dont? Dogs not allowed in kids parks? Yes. Fines for those who dont clean up after their animals? Absolutely. And I dont really think you'll find anyone on this forum who owns a dog who doesnt agree with what Ive written above... Yes, I totally agree.

Wow, Helamima, I must of course lead a miserable life because I don't like to find dog sh!t on my drive, yes that makes sense!!! I didn't say blanket ban on dogs, I just said maybe banning dogs in residential zones should be considered when dog poo on the pavements is obviously such a prevalent issue here. I dont think moving the dogs to the commercial zones would solve anything... There are pavements there too... and cars... It would seem you dont work though, and if this is an incorrect assumption then I apologise, but in essence what you are saying is that as long as it doesnt happen where YOU are affected, you dont give a sh*t (pardon the pun!) And I dont really think my boss would be too keen on me taking my dog to work... ha ha! No of course I care or else I wouldn't have started this thread! I think it's vile in any area, not just where I am affected. Maybe the next project could be Dog city, like Motor city! edited by jwal on 12/01/2011

jwal, people have been very reasonable in pointing out 'small' flaws in your reactive idea to ban all dogs on the back of a small percentage of lazy owners/carers and the sh1te they leave in their wake. Not one person here disagrees with you...left dog waste is disagreeable, unhygeniqe, exceedingly poor manners and completely ignorant and/or arrogant. Take your pick or select all of the above options. Include a basic lack of education, a different cultural mindset, or just plain laziness. It matters not. we know it happens, we know it's deplorable, but the more reasonable of us know that it is a very small percentage of 'people' that spoil it for the majority of responsible and sensible dog owners. I can't help but feeling that your reaction is over the top jwal, and out of character? Is there something else going on that has blown this all up out of proportion for you? If time is an issue, and you can't wait out side to catch the culprit, put a sign on your car. if you can't find someone to translate to various different languages....include a graphic. Make it clear that it is an unacceptable behaviour and you will take action. Threaten them with police if you like? Whatever, take control of your patch. Ranting about banning all dogs on here serves no purpose except winding you up more and getting no nearer to resolution. You want a result? Make it happen. You shouldnt have to in a perfect world, but guess what? It isnt, has never been, and never will be perfect. So take control of what YOU can.

hmmmm jwal, I wonder if someone is leaving their little gifts on your property for a reason????? and on purpose????? What a ridiculous thing to say! For a start I don't know anyone in the neighbourhood who owns a dog and have never reprimanded anyone about their dog, how am I meant to find out who it is when countless people walk their dogs, am I meant to stand outside all day waiting for this to happen! It's ridiculous, I can't believe people on here who think it's fine for this to be happening, no regard for childrens health. Disgusting attitudes! jwal, it is a ridiculous as saying Dubai should Ban all dogs because 'some'people do not pick up after them. I dont believe I read where anyone said it was fine, quite the contrary. They agree with you on the not picking up the poop etc...most do not agree on the blanket dog banning because of it. I think you need to step back, find out who the culprits are since you said you find the poop under your rear bumper 4 times this month, please tell me how a dog can poop under your rear bumper and if it is in the same place every day, I would say it is the same dog. Rather than complaining on here, why not go out and see if you can put a notice in everyones gates to explain the situation? You might be able to meet a few people that might help educate the owners and helpers. It is also highly possible that the maids dont pick up but the owners dont know, or it is the owners who have not lived in a country where it was pretty much mandatory to clean up or get fined. Or, you can continue blowing a gasket and vent your anger on the dogs ......and I noticed, on the people here. edited by SueB on 12/01/2011 Of course it makes me angry when people come on here and say 'it's only poo'! No it's DOGS MESS! It's a health hazard. I have 3 kids to take care of I am not about to stand outside all day long waiting for a dog to sh!t on my drive!

Wow, jwal, what a miserable life you must lead. If everyone would think like this, there'd be nothing left to do here... No car driving because of the accidents, no smoking because I know it sure bugs the h*ll out of me to have to smell the smoke when eating at an outdoor restaurant (never mind the well documented cancer risk from second hand smoking). No crying kids cause they definitely bother me on, let's say, over night flights and nice restaurants. For all I care, people who chew with their mouths open in public should be banned and thrown in jail forever because that's disgusting to see when you're trying to eat in a civilized manner yourself. No incence burning because it makes me want to vomit when the smell lingers in the corridor of my apartment building. No stupid, multi color, blinking christmas lights because it's definitely not esthetically pleasing. How about you learn some tolerance and don't blame all dog owners for something that only few people do (ie. not picking up the poop). Our dog is our family member. I don't go around wanting to get your children/husband/parents banned because someone else's children/husband/parents did something stupid. If it takes extreme measures ie. banning dogs from residential zones then so be it, so long as I don't have to deal with dog sh!t I really don't care. :\: So what are we going to do with the ones we have? Do we just put them down, or live in the desert ourselves? Do you even know what you are saying?? Just find out who does this and don't take it out on all the dog owners. And take something to relax, it is just poo for God's sakes.. Honestly, I think you have no real problems in life, so creating some.. I don't know where you come from, but where I am from it is NOT ok to let your dog sh!t on someone's drive. Where I am from it is not OK too, that's why I DO pick up after my dogs! You have to respect people's rights in my culture too, which obviously yours is missing! So I should respect a persons right to let their dog sh!t on my driveway? Nice one Alya! Great attitude! I think she meant the right to own an animal....

so nicely put giggles, if only everyone thought the way you do, caring about their own needs as well the needs of others, that's really how a community is supposed to be, right?!

the other week, while going for lunch, as was walking back to my office a maid had a pug on the lead outside Wagi residences, the dog did it's business which the maid left but then proceeded to get a bottle of water and tissues and wash the dogs a$$..... was stunned..... edited by Izzy99 on 12/01/2011 Maybe the maid genuinely misunderstood what her employer meant by '...don't forget to clean up after the dog!" 8-)

So I just received a letter from security saying that some of the residents are trying to have dogs banned from the complex. What a coincidence! I love walking around with my DD everyday (we really are lucky to live here), stopping to chat to the residents and going to the playgrounds so DD can play with other kids. Due to our frequent travelling, we are unable to have a dog so a highlight of DDs day is meeting the residents dogs. She is able to become familiar with them, pat them and learn to associate with them (with caution of course). I totally agree that those who walk the dogs MUST clean up after them as it is gross having to step over or around dog poop. But banning them is not the answer. I despise the cats that pee on my freshly washed car, scratching it as they walk along it. Even worse is when they relieve themselves on my doorstep and just the thought of them using the playgrounds as a litter box makes me want to vomit. But even then, I know that they are someones beloved pet and bring them much joy so I would never want them to be banned. If we all banned everything that drove us nuts, we wouldn't have much, would we? Except maybe a lot of chocolate and some gorgeous shoes!!, Banning dogs from the complex would be devastating to a lot of people, and not just the owners. So can we please all try to work together and live life to the fullest. Dog owners, please clean up after your dogs and if you have someone else walking them (while you are out working hard to provide for your families, running the kids around, etc), please ensure they are aware of their responsibilities. Perhaps a few more bins around the complex would be handy??? And for those trying to push the ban, please reconsider. Thank you for your time.
