Lamps shades not lamps

I bought two lamps in Marina but they have no shades as they didn't sell separate cream or beige shades just black ones. No worries I thought I will just buy 2 little beige shades somewhere else and that will be that. But no...not true. I cannot find a place that sells shades on their own. I want simple shade, no glitz, no bling, just classic little shades.
Please help as my bedroom has an air of poverty now with two lamps and not a shade in sight.....

Saw some really nice ones at Laura Ashley in Mercato; also there is a furniture shop called Habitat in the Jumeirah Plaza (if it's still there!) that used to carry shades...

I am so glad you posted that! I am doing an overhaul on the house in the 'fall' and have already chosen quite a few PB 'pieces'. That would have never occurred to me! Thanks!

Word to the wise, however: make sure that the shade DOES fit to the base before you purchase it. Measure the top of the light fitting and take it from there. :) Does that even apply to PB lamps to PB lampshades? Yup. I got 'burnt' after buying a bulk load of lovely lamps from PB. Very nice gentleman helped me out, supposedly ensuring that I had shades to fit every base, but wouldn't you know it; as soon as I got home, I discovered that I had a shade [with no bottom'> and a bottom whose shade just would not fit! Most annoying, esp. since I live on the other side of town to Mirdiff! It appears that there are two different sizes of inner fittings [the bit which fits next to the globe'> = a small fitting and a big fitting, regardless of the shade size -- so it's important to make sure they match. :)

How about Dragon Mart??? Plenty of lighting shops there I'd avoid Dragon Mart for lampshades and lamps [sorry'>. I bought a couple as a stopgap when we first arrived and one spitted and sputtered and the other was downright dangerous. This was largely due to the shops storing their goods in boxes in the alleys OUTSIDE the 'Mart, resulting in the lamps becoming sun-damaged. One lamp, which I'd viewed in the shop but which was sold in a box [meaning I didn't look at it before taking it home'> was just dreadful; the cord was literally 'melded' to the base [melted?!'> and it would have been a huge risk to even plug it in. Separate lampshades may not be a problem, obviously, but just be wary of what you're buying there. :)

Pottery Barn Second that. I've bought a number of 'traditional' lamps [and shades'> there. The lampshades are sold separately to the bases so you don't have to buy the whole 'unit'. Word to the wise, however: make sure that the shade DOES fit to the base before you purchase it. Measure the top of the light fitting and take it from there. :)

Ikea is too modern. Marina don't as I have been to 3 of their branches and only they sell black ones. Any where else?

Me 2. Found v basic ones in Ikea. The lamps were from Marina, & Marina said they stopped selling only shades.

I had the same dilemma and never realised it would be such a painful process trying to find them. Pottery Barn has lovely shades but they are the American cross shades fitting which attach with a small screw fitting at the top. Otherwise, the only place I have found is Ikea. Good luck!

Had exactly the same problem last year and I ended up hand-carrying two back from the UK. Laura Ashley has opened here now and they sell lampshades- as does Marina, Home R Us,Habitat and @ Home also have a very limited selection. HTH
