Hi there,

I'm new to the forum and soon to be new to Dubai as I am moving in 3 weeks!

Need some advice on where to set up home - and hoping some of you more established ladies may be able to help. I'm a single girl coming on my own so making these choices is a bit daunting when you don't know anywhere!

I'm looking for a 2 bed apt with amenities (small local store, café perhaps?) within walking distance. I will be working in the DIFC - but proximity to work is not crucial (30 mins drive/Metro is fine). I've been over and liked the Marina and Downtown - but now its closer to the time I need building recommendations so I can pinpoint my search when I arrive.

Would really appreciate some advice!!

JC :-)

Hi! We were in the same boat last year when we moved here - trying to decide between the Marina and Downtown. Ultimately, we chose the Old Town community in Downtown and couldn't be happier. It's 10 mins with traffic to/from DIFC versus 45 mins-1 hr from DIFC to the Marina during rush hour... There's a souk in Old Town with a Baker & Spice, grocery store, pharmacy, doctor's office, nail salon, spa, restaurants, and more. After settling down in Dubai without a car for 9+ months, I found Downtown to be much more walkable than the Marina. For us in Old Town, we have The Palace, Vida and Al Manzil hotels all within minutes of each other and Souk Al Bahar is right across the boulevard. Not to mention, Dubai Mall is literally across the street which is incredibly convenient. Hope this helps! Happy hunting :)

Hi. My personal preferences in Downtown are as follows: The Residences Old Town / Old Town Island 29 Boulevard South Ridge Unfortunately, I don't know much about the Marina so can't help you there. However, have a look at flatreviews.com. They have reviews of most buildings in the Marina. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for your reply Goldilocks. :-) I'm looking to spend 150 - 180K but have some wiggle room on that.

It would be helpful to know your budget to be able to suggest buildings..
