The Maya Ladies night is at Toro Toro though...aren't the two hotels related somehow? I know if you stay at The Grosvenor you can use Le Royal Meridien's facilities...

Can't believe they're renovating, again. Anyways, after the second renovation it lost all the charm and the realness it had, not to mention that the quality of the food dropped as the prices went higher. So I don't even want to imagine how's going to be when it re-opens again.

The first renovation had to do with the new concept, and the new chef had some things done to his specs. It was well worth the wait; the rooftop deck is stellar, and the tequila room is a nice touch. This time though, I have no idea what they are doing. I've been aching for some Maya lately.

no its really renovating....they get new kitchen and so on. This is what some of the staff told us. But here the workers are so slow...they were supposed to open already....but now its delayed. Totally disagree. Nowhere in the (western) world have I seen building projects, small or big, executed at the speed of the UAE. I believe re-opening is a strategic decision of management. Why would they re-open at a time that there are hardly any tourists at the hotel, and many residents are still, away for the school holidays. They are probably sending staff out on holidays, all to come back and re-open after Sumer. Same as with all shops renovating in the malls. Actually, I think there is something wrong with Maya. Two closures in as many years? Unusual. Hmm, didn't know. I really like their Friday brunch with full beach&pool access. And the food and cocktails are good.

Renovations again! but then again I have also learnt that in this part of the world it can mean - closed down and will reopen as something new! edited by pollydxb1 on 19/08/2014
