Hi Ladies

i have a query that I hope someone can help with. We want to send our maid to the Philippines for her annual leave but she has to get the OEC letter from the POEA to be able to come back.

Now the issue I have is that her contract with the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Labour states a salary of AED500 because the fees are 10 times the salary, i.e. AED5000. If we put her actual salary of AED2000 then we would have to pay AED20,000 every year to sponsor her. I know this is true because DH works in HR for the government - presumably it's just a fixed fee in Dubai as no-one seems to have raised this issue?

My worry is that the POEA will refuse to accept the contract because the stated salary is below their minimum requirements. How about if we write a letter stating that her basic as per contract is AED500 but she gets AED1500 in allowances every month and show signed salary slips?

Surely we can't be the first people to have encountered this? Any advice gratefully received!

Many thanks in advance

Just emailed you the documents. Let me know if it doesn't go through for some reason. I went to the Philippines embassy myself to do the paperwork as my maid had left on an emergency when her father died earlier this year. The only documents they wanted were the 1. Information Sheet 2. Undertaking of Employer 3. Employment Agreement. They were all supplied by the embassy. They did not ask me for the contract from immigration at all. Maybe it is different between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, though... not sure. We did this at the embassy in Abu Dhabi, and her visa is from Abu Dhabi. I completed all of the paperwork and had them certified by the embassy, then sent them to her to complete the OEC in Manilla. The only other document that they wanted in Manilla was a hand written not from me stating that she still works for us, and will be returning to our home to complete her contract. I was able to email this to the OEC headquarters in Manilla. I signed all documents on behalf of my husband, who is the sponsor, and gave them a copy of my passport as well.

My maid just did her paperwork today as she is going for her vacation soon. Along with the 2 documents, she brought her original contract and they stamped it. When she chose to do it at home 2 years ago, her sister had to collect the contract from me and take it to the consulate for attestation, scan and email it to her.
