No one hate him I think to need security. They give the locals so much from their wealth that they're just so loved.

my dearest dubai moment is meeting sheik mo on his 1 plate mercedes almost every day in the 6pm traffic on the al wasl road back in 2006. i taught my 2y girl to wave to him every time :D he would be mostly on his own and no security/second car. i always wondered how risky for such a important figure to be wandering around the city - but that's might just not be the case in the uae. isn't his car at least bullet proof? i havent met him in traffic for the last 2 years thou .... Does he drive a white merc G Class with a number 1 registration plate? if so ive seen him a few times last week in Safa, once scoffing his face but he looked really young?

I used to live next door to people who should never have been allowed to have animals as pets. They had an angry bull mastif that was left outside day and night to bark and was being trained to fight. It disappeared one day never to be seen again. They had a puppy another time, I saw it about to jump off a 3rd floor balcony so knocked on the door. The kids and maid were locked inside and coldnt open the front door. I told them to go rescue the puppy before I called the police. It was then locked for days whining and crying in the room next door to my bedroom. I reported them but nothing was done. I think dad was well connected! Worst thing they ever did was tie up 2 dalmations in the blazing sun in summer, then they used to lock them in the boot of the car sometimes. No matter how many calls I made, or how many times I knocked on their door, I was ignored. I found out very early on in my life in Dubai that animal cruelty is rife over here and there are elements of the population out there who do not possess any compassion to any kind of animals. Luckily there are more now who do! edited by Babylons on 06/02/2011

Yesterday afternoon at Festival City, A small car arrived from Abu Dhabi The local man stayed in his driver front seat while the four ladies and two children get out of the car Just after they opened the small boot car I thought it was for the ladies to take their bags for shopping but no It was simply to get the African maid out of the boot They had pout her inside!! This is VERY disturbing to hear! You must have felt very bad seeing that!

I was coming from Doha to AD on a Qatar flight, and a guy came on the plane with a falcon. i couldnt believe it was allowed, imagine if the falcon started to flight on the plane? My friend saw a guy with a leopard inside his car a petrol station in Dubai.

Not Dubai but still the middle east... friend in saudi pulled into a petrol station next to a pick up with two goats in the back and two women in the front. It started to rain so, yip you guessed it, women out the front and into the back so the goats could have the dry front seat ;)

The funniest thing I saw in a street near where I live was a car stopping and the driver getting out and opening the back doors and the boot and loads of goats all jumping out from every angle. I didn't know you could get so many goats in one car. Could this be a Guinness World Record? :)

I feel gyped. I never see Lions, Tigers, Monkeys or any other exotic animal in the cars of people while driving. Just the odd camel and goat here and there.

I saw somebody on the beach this morning with their falcon. I wanted to go for a closer look. Unfortunately my dog was even more keen than me so I thought it safer to keep a distance :) not sure dog would have won......

we live near the dreadful Dubai Zoo every morning we hear lion roaring, my point being that type of animal should never be in such a small confined area where you can clearly hear him

Quote from SusieH When I lived in Portugal I thought there were an awful lot of stray dogs until someone told me almost everyone turns their dog on to the street each day for "exercise" until they return from work!end of quote! (Did something wrong here - oops!) As a child brought up in rural Cornwall this is what we did with our dog every morning, he'd go and visit the fishermen on the beach and mooch around all day, meet me and my sister from the school taxi and come home for his dinner! Now I panic if my dog as much as sets foot outside the front door not on a lead!! edited by Cornish Pixie on 04/02/2011

I was getting back into my car at Mirdiff City Centre the other day and looked up into the car opposite me. There was a baby monkey jumping around the back seat and it was wearing nappies!

Talking about taking animals for a walk, I see some dogs being walked by their owners each morning, but the owners drive in the car across the desert and the dogs chase after them! NOT only in Dubai. When we lived in Sussex by the South of England Showground we'd often see people "walking" their dogs by driving around what are the car parks outside of the actual showground with their dogs running after them. There are lazy dog owners everywhere.

When I first arrived in Dubai 3 years ago, a man in a white Rangey had a lion in the back of his car in the car park in MOE!! I just couldnt take my eyes off it there is a Sheikha who has her cheetah walked on Mazar beach too. the cheetah is blind though through being fed the wrong type of food according to the maid who walks it

My only in Dubai moment was when I spotted in my wing mirror this afternoon a car trying to turn right into me in a desparate attempt to leave the E44 at a roundabout... the driver was four lanes out whilst I and the lane inside me (to my right) were definately going on round the thing. Anyway he missed me somehow then leant over to give me a polite wave as he carried on round!

Anyone remember the picture on the front of 7 days years ago of a black range rover with a tiger in the back seat poking his head out of the rear window!
