Not true sorry. I just spent a week in Oman and all the way to Muscat, around Muscat and even down to Sur and the turtle beach people were happy to accept Dirhams everywhere.
Hi,
Can someone help me please? I came to dubai via Abu Dhabi and found out I can only get a 30 day visa. I need to get an extension and have been told to go back to abu dhabi and pay 650AED. Someone suggested going to the Oman border at Mussandam and doing an exit entry but I understand that I will have to pay about $120. I am really confused and have so much conflicting info - can someone tell me the right info?
I have a British passport - All info appreciated and required ASAP as I have to sort this within 2 days.
The reason for the increase is simple. Oman changed the law about a month and a half ago raising the visit visa fee from RO6 (or Dh60) to RO20 (or Dh200). This applies at all borders, land and air, and not just for Mussandam, but all of Oman. You can pay in either dirham or riyal. Please note that while dirham are commonly accepted in Mussandam, in the rest of Oman you do need to use riyal.
Hi
If you are non resident it is Dhs 200 if you are a resident it is Dhs100, that was what we paid 6 weeks ago BUT the last time we went I only paid Dhs35! So it is anyones guess lol
