This may sound silly but i have a friend coming from back home, Southern California... she asked me what i want her to bring back for me.... if you were in the same position as me what would you ask for? For some reason my mind is drawing blank! I guess ive been away so long! Anything goes as long as it fits in a suitcase!! LOL thanks ladies!

I always buy from Harry and David when back in California. and have friends bring me my "fixes" when they come to visit. I love their Fajita Chili mix, Pepper and Onion Relish (actually all their relishes) and chocolate covered cherries. If they are close to Santa Barbara then I have them bring me anything from the shop at Gainey Vineyards, especially their Cranberries and Wine topper for soft cheese. Now, I'm getting homesick.

It only took me once of taking my dh there to make me realize I would never do it again. He would look at the prices of things and balk and throw hissy fits about them. So I had to go back when he was at work to buy those forbidden items.. Don't take DH with you.

Bounce isn't in all supermarkets. Knock offs aren't the same as Bounce. Where is Safestway? Why am I laughing that it's Safetsway and not Safeway like in the states? :) Safeway had an argument with Dubai years ago about the use of their name. Dubai didn't want to pay for the trademark name, so Dubai in turn made it safestway. Even though they still use Safeways logo and likeness. Now Safestway is close to the Burj Khalifa. Next to the Mazaya center. You will find quite a bit of the items you love from the US. However, be prepared to pay the price for them. If your heading towards Sharjah from Sheikh Zayed Road it would be on the left hand side.

My SIL is coming in two weeks and she's bringing GrapeNuts cereal for me, , Dawn dishwashing soap, a load of Gap pajamas for my boys and a sweet little device that's going to let our PS3 stream movies from the web. I may kiss her right there at the airport.

Hmmm... let's see... a Nordstrom's, a Riteaid, and a Wholefoods! I know, not helpful, but this is what I would ask for! Honestly, I second the Twizzlers! And SourPatch Kids (it's not movie night without them!). Beauty products (face cream and make-up) and REAL vanilla flavoring (not this imitation cr*p). Latest DVDs. What else, baby products (nice quality toys and clothes for a good price) and organic baby food (rip-off here). Flattering swimsuits! Like Catawba KSE, I buy most of my stuff in the States and have it shipped over--I am able to get it cheaper and better quality.

im partial to Q-tip brand ear swabs...and never found them here. also, sheets/bedding. SO much cheaper. with a new DD and trip planned in the next month my amazon shopping cart is about to explode. :) i agree with newbe, if we could just transplant entire stores that would be great. Costco and TraderJoes please.

Most of the stuff I have brought over is cooking related. I second the chili powder. Sriacha sauce, specific types of paprika (sweet or smoked) and ground chilies (chipolte, habanero etc), stuff for the kids to decorate cookies/cupcakes. I order lots of stuff for the kids - clothes/shoes for them are so much cheaper and so much more variety from the US. I order my bathing suits on line to be brought (the ones here are not attractive or only big enough to cover one half of rear ends bigger than a size 2) as well as sandals (yes, there is such a thing as a heel between a flip flop and a stiletto).
