I am not sure how all this work and what are the labour laws in the UAE.

Can anyone inform me or direct me where i can ready more about it....

Thanks a lot.

Claire haven't you heard they have changed the rules re part-time working. It is now ok for people to have part-time jobs with different employers. . . . apparently it is meant to help more people here earn more money according to the government It came into effect 01 Jan 2011 ... No they haven't - it's to do with no objection certificates - its for workers who have completed their legal 2 year contract - they now don't need a no objection certificate - and it relates to certain categories of workers.... http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/employment/new-rule-marks-end-of-no-objection-certificates-1.732839 As usual it's all open to different interpretations.....

She is the sponsor's responsibility. If she gets pregnant you will need to let her go and get her back to her home country. You should get her a government health card but her medical expenses should be paid by you. I suggest you understand exactly what the costs etc will be before you employ one. If you go into an immigration office ask them for a copy of the domestic workers employment contract as that details all the responsibilities of the employer (you or your husband) or maybe someone can put one up on this site if they have one. As it sounds like you are new to recruiting a housemaid please be careful and do not take on a housemaid on a part time basis unless she is through a housemaid agency - taking on part timers is illegal - they must be under your sponsorship or through an agency and the fine has just increased to 100K dhs if you are caught with an illegal worker.
