got stuck in crazy traffic in Karama last night around 11pm. Poeple dancing on streets, screaming, waving the Indian flag and crackers as well... total madness... There were couple of cops directing the traffic, but they were not stopping the celebrations, which was really nice of them :) I'm sure Bur Dubai would have been worse!

Here in Sharjah, the cheering and shouting is stupendous. I just went down to the tailor near my apartment, and met a TV team from an Indian TV channel interviewing people about the win. Suddenly,I found a guy with a mike asking me my reactions to the win. For a second I was struck dumb, but managed to mumble something like 'proud to be an Indian, great game' etc. I was more concerned about whether I looked alright. Thank God,I was wearing a decent outfit and not my normal nightwear.;). That was quite some experience edited by momoftwo on 02/04/2011

I am sooooooo happy! Wish I was back in Mumbai tonight. Could hardly hear my brother when I called him as there was so much shouting and whistling in the background.

One team bowls the ball, the other team hits the ball with the bat and tries to run to the other end of the "wicket" (This is a "run"). Each team has 11 members and they need to get as many "runs" as they can in 50 "overs" (an over is 6 balls bowled by the bowling team) If you get more runs than the other team before you run out of batsmen, you win. A team can lose their batsmen in a number of different ways so they try to not lose them. There is a lot of different rules and regulations but this is a quick intro for a beginner.

Sorry stovetop, didn't mean to offend, it's just that 24 out of my 26 member work pool tipped India. Both teams have played really well and it's been a fantastic tournament to watch. Oh, no offence taken. Was just telling you they're not a weak team by any standards :D I'm Indian, so on Team Blue's side all the way too. LOL.

I have tipped the Inja Ninja's to win in my work tipping pool but I'm enjoying watching Sri Lanka stick it to 'em... love to see the the underdogs in any competition do well. ETA fairytale it should finish between 8.30 and 9pm have at look at www.cricinfo.com for live scores. edited by maxindubai on 02/04/2011 SL are far from being the underdogs

The more you watch the more you learn and develop an interest. I can happily watch a 5 day test match as long as Australia are playing and not losing really badly. Just keep it on in the background if you're not a big fan, it's a great game once you know the rules and some of the players and personalities.

It's early days yet but India are doing ok in meeting the required run rate, but they have lost two of their best batsmen.

Going to be a huge second innings, and that's perfect for a CWC final, I think. I'd prefer this to an absolute walkover, but India could well find the heart and the stamina to do it. :)
